Told to falsify date on OASIS. Is this legal?

Yep, the same one. Thanks for the advise. I knew this wasn't right. I have put my notice in this week.

Told to falsify date on OASIS. Is this legal?

Thank you for all the advise. I knew this was illegal and told them so but they say everyone does it. So I asked a friend that has been in Home Health for many years and she said that a lot of agencies do the same thing. Have any of you ever heard of this before I posted this? Also, when we are told to date something differently it is always written on our schedule. It is like they aren't even trying to hide it. YESTERDAY DEC 02 I saw a recert visit in my box for 12/06/16 and a note to date it for 11/23/16. So they know it was past due as of 11/23 BUT they still are waiting to schedule it another 5 days!!! I refused and gave my 2 week notice.

  4. Sometimes my HHA has told me to date my OASIS visit for a date earlier than the actual date I did the assessment. Often that date is on a day I didn't work (I work only 2 days/wk). I reluctantly did this once, but have been refusing since, so they will give the visit to another RN and most of them just do it. The DON has several reasons including no nurse available to do the SOC within the first 2 days after referral, sometimes its a recert that the office failed to schedule on time, etc. Once there was a SOC that was a missed visit, but the LVN was seeing the patient for 3 weeks. They told me to see the patient and date my SOC a month earlier. I refused to do the visit. This sounds like falsifying documentation. Is this common? I need advice.

charting!!!! I am about to leave home health...

Many of you mention charting at the patient's home. I'm curious to know how many of you are provided with a device by your HHA. What is the norm? My agency does not supply laptops, tablets, or any other device to do charting. I do not like taking my home laptop out for security reasons.

charting!!!! I am about to leave home health...

We use Kinnser and it is a real nightmare. Slow, crashes, always unavailable, so charting is always delayed. Everyone is complaining. Do you have one I can recommend?

    Unpaid RN orientation

Thank you for the info. Have you heard of other HH agencies who handle orientation this way?

    Unpaid RN orientation

I got a new job as a home health RN. After getting hired I was told orientation consisted of a few UNPAID days shadowing another nurse. I was told it isn't paid because its just to see if home health is for you. Some nurses say thats just the way it is and others say that its illegal to not pay for orientation. There was also about 20-30 minutes of being shown the Kinnser program/OASIS ... Also not paid. Is this common for home health agencies? FYI: I'm in California. This agency only pay milage above 50 miles and pay rate is according to the type of visit: SOC $85, ROC/Recert/ Discharge $55, RN SN visit (IV, etc) $40. With all the hours of computer documentation its like I took a big pay cut. I've been a nurse over 25 yrs but I feel lost. And If I shadow more until I'm more comfortable then I don't get paid. I desperately need advise.
