  1. Wow llg! You truly answered me in my own voice...straight, no chaser. My first priority will be to improve skills. Thank you guys, every tip helps.
  2. Thank you for responding. You are right I will have to take a typing class. It may be my only solution.
  3. Yeeeessss way to go!!!
  4. Hi everyone, I really appreciate the support given of those RN's, BSN's ect., who take the time to respond on Allnurses to the concerns of the student nurses. For the past year I had been lurking around here reading other posts and recently joined to find answers to my own concerns, questions or fears. Upon reading the post '...would you use a nursing writing service...? I, once again started assessing my strengths and weaknesses. My nursing school entry date is Jan. 2016. My study skills pre-nursing seem good enough to get into my program but typing is a severe deficit of mine. Sad to say, that I am a hunter/pecker still at this stage in my academic career. The work gets slowly done. Adding to my problem is ADD and I take meds for this. Does anyone know of aids, typing or otherwise that may help me? You all know what it takes to successfully complete nursing school. Yes, I know learning to type would be best but, I have not learned thus far. I have a Dragon Speaking Program but know better than to use it- too many grammar errors that even my proof reading more than likely will not catch. Thank you all in advance finalee
  5. Hi Michelegie, In this past year, I turned 45 and also returned to school. My good friend told me I'd be two years older regardless if I returned to do what I feel my passion has been-nursing or not. I took her advice to heart and returned as a much better student. My study habits are much stronger than when I was younger. My grades are important, of course getting that almighty A, but, grasping of the content brings me joy. Who knew? The appreciation of the journey, the highs and lows, is something I could not do as young me. I'm sharp in mind and yes my back is killing me but it hurts anyway. That's my story. Look at it this way, you bring your unique life experience, so just bring yourself and just move your plan forward by working it-soon. That is quite a path you have laid out for yourself; if you have 60 credits, yes, the ADN is very competitive but so is everything in life. I don't know your circumstances, so just do what's best for you. Maybe some of the RN's and BSN's will offer some advise on the path. Good luck.
  6. Hi prettynerd, Take the time out to breathe. Your post said you are overwhelmed. Evaluate your strengths and there may be more of them than you give yourself credit due to the fact you've gotten this far. We are in school pushing ourselves toward something new/better or there are who have been through your situation & are nurses. Listen to them. It is not an easy path becoming a nurse or anything else you choose to do. You Still need that survival skill essential to every successful person I know...ASKING FOR HELP! We all know it may be difficult-cutting yourself a break and asking for help. We all need it at some point. That's why schools have tutors, to help students like US. I use a tutor, YouTube, heck , I'll use an abacus, fingers & toes & yours too😜😜😜. you are not alone in the struggle.
