I agree with Sharann. Yes, maybe it does seem as if students run here for answers that could easily be found in their books, but maybe they were just under the illusion that real life experience may better prepare them than textbook. I think that we all can remember how different text is vs. experience, and how we didn't really learn anything until we did it. Maybe some students who come here could easily get the answers from their books and are just doing things the easy way, but it's comments like these that will scare away those who truly need our help. I'm ashamed that nurses treat their replacement generation this way.

I am also a new grad. with only six mos. experience working on a telemetry floor. We generally staff 1: 3-5 pt. and our pts are usually not critical. This is 7p-7a shift. We have no aides or unit sec., but generally we do okay. I admit we have a fairly nice set up and most of our supervisors are very good about getting us added help if pt. acuity becomes a prob. I have yet to feel as if we practice unsafely. Even with this setup there are times that we can feel very overwhelmed, but that just comes with the territory. As you all already know.

I was wondering what anyone could tell me about the tessio dialysis cath. Is this a needleless system. I am just curious, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
