  1. Have you applied for financial aid? It should list what's available to you.
  2. I started out as a CNA, then LPN then ADN then BSN. Starting NP school this fall. I wish I did the RN to MSN program.
  3. At the hospital I am employed BSN nurses make slightly more than ASN/ADN nurses.
  4. Boost shakes, almonds, yogurt and protein bars are some good options. Remember to stay hydrated.
  5. I am a product of a single parent household and going into high school I was told that there was no money for college. So I made decent grades. I received some merit & income based scholarships and grants for LPN school and some for the ADN program. I lived at home until I started working as a LPN. I went to a local community college and earned my degree. What ever wasn't covered I paid for out of my own pocket. My mother did not give me a dime for college. Basically, go to a more affordable college to earn your degree. I paid my BSN out of pocket and it was very affordable.
  6. The FNP program I was just accepted into is about $18,000. I would never pay $100,000 for a NP program. What do you do if you have an unforeseen situation that stops you from fully completing your degree and you're left with like a $75,000 loan? I think the highest I would consider is $30,000 but you do whatever is best for you.
  7. This is a great thread! Thank you everyone for the valuable information.
  8. Congratulations and thank you so much on the valuable information! I cannot wait to start FNP school this Fall!

  10. I notified FAU to have my e-mail activated in order for me to complete my SIPs training.
  11. I was told that I would get an e-mail about FNP orientation in June. During orientation they'll tell us what to register for.
  12. I called IT and they activated it for me.
  13. I have access to my FAU e-mail! Yay!
  14. Same thing. Deferred to department. I never received a letter though.
  15. Just remember why you originally decided to become a nurse. Focus on that. Also remember that there are many specialties in nursing.
