Thanks for the feedback. I do have my BSN which may or may not factor in. I live in SE NC and our local school district contracts with a company specializing in providing health care to schools ( nursing, ST, clinical social work etc). I have submitted a resume and received a call back, so we will see what happens! Have a blessed day!
Hi guys I am an 'old timer' (20+ years) as an RN, mostly in Home Health, who would like to switch gears and become a school nurse. I do have a background in education (K-8 certification before becoming a nurse) but no peds background/ experience (other than a few developmental delay home care patients). Any advice as to how to get started and present myself as a good candidate for school nursing? I have been lurking on AN awhile and appreciate the humor, support and advice shared on this site. Thanks for reading!
I've been lurking here awhile for a lift when I've had a tough day. Really appreciate the humor and support expressed here. Thanks for being yourselves! Ive learned this week that returning to school at age 50 is both the hardest and most bad*** thing I've ever done. Being the 'Mom' figure in said class is pretty cool too (my instructor and classmates are all age 30 or younger)......but most days I just feel old. Life experience and 22 years of nursing will definitely be a huge advantage in my new field (medical esthetics) Laugh lines are beautiful! Wishing you all peace, love and fresh vajayjays (in keeping with thread topic) lol
CNA II 1992, BSN 1994. Before that taught middle school math and science. 7 yrs inpatient med-surg/ oncology followed by 14 yrs in home health. Considering getting my MSN.... if I can figure out how to keep body and soul (not to mention my sanity!!) while going to school. I worked full time and went to school for my BSN but that was many moons ago!!
