  1. Thanks for these updates. I am applying to start Sept 1. I am nervous yet excited. All I have done so far is fill out application and start transfer request. Hoping to get everything set up for Sept start date. But am fine waiting until Oct if needed!
  2. Hi! I was preparing myself to go back to school and was interested in this Masters program. They have an RN-MSN option. I was considering this field because I love working at the hospital, but want to transition out of bedside and have always been interested in computers and software. On my unit, I was always volunteered to be one of the Super Users when we switched our programs. Was not sure if those that are in the field now, recommend a Masters degree or if most companies want you to have experience over an advanced degree. Thanks for your input!
  3. I have been working for about a year and a half as a RN, and I am just starting to feel comfortable in the hospital. I don't think any of my class mates felt completely prepared when we were in our last class and heading to graduation!! My first day at an actual nursing job, I was extremely nervous, and the feeling lasted a long time!! But don't worry, once you start working, it slowly gets better and better.
  4. Hey there! I am a fairly new nurse, and have been working inpatient rehab/med surg overflow. I was just offered a position with Heartland and am really debating it. I have been at the hospital for about a year. I am so used to my 3 day schedule and the shifts. But I have always been interested in this field. I just wanted to get my feet wet first, so to speak. I was just wondering if anyone had worked for this company or knew anyone that had. I know during the interview she said they still used paper charting, but that a lot of hospice companies did. But because of that, she said charting does take up most of your time. The case load is normally 8-10 patients as case manager. What are your typical days like during the week, how long are visits normally. Does your company offer to pay for mileage? Any information or advice, going from hospital to hospice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
  5. Hey, I am full time on the rehab unit. Right now that is my only income. My schedule is about to change where I will have 5 days off in a row every other weekend, so was thinking of trying to get a job in the field, like a tech job or internship. Something to get my foot in the door.
  6. Hey! I live in Aiken, SC...its about 30 mins from Augusta, GA.
  7. Hey everyone! I am currently an RN working on the Rehab unit at a hospital in my area with my Associates. I have been putting off getting my BSN until I really figured out what I want to specialize in. I only have 1 year experience so far. I am very interested in this field. More of the crime scene investigation, evidence collection side. I read through a lot of the threads, but couldnt really find any interest in this part of forensic nursing. I see a lot about SANE adult and pediatric. I am am leaning towards being a forensic nurse investigator. I know where I live now, the need isnt here....small little town! But we are moving in 3 years to a much bigger city. So during this 3 years, I am trying to get all my schooling in. I already have undergrad debt, so am trying to decide the best route to take without incurring a lot more debt. I was thinking certificate program would be a less expensive option. Do you think I am on the right path?? Sorry for the rambling!
