Moving out of state immediately after graduating NP program.
Hi everyone! I will soon be starting my direct entry MSN program in a couple weeks. The program is laid out in a way to allow me to have my RN license in one year, then the next two years are spent for the MSN-FNP portion while also working as a RN to gain experience. I moved from California to Massachusetts for this program and I am already planning to move back after I finish the program (about 3 years). I've been looking up the procedure to transfer my license and paperwork from MA to CA already and it's stressing me out! Is there any way for me to be able to transfer my FNP license to CA immediately after graduation, or will I have to spend months in MA to have all paperwork be processed? Is there extra certification that I need to have a FNP license in CA (in comparison to the requirements in MA)? One thing I do understand is that I will need to apply for a CA RN license. I assume doing this immediately after I get my RN license would be the best choice? On the BON out of state application, I noticed they require the transcript from my program with a degree listed. I have a BS in Microbiology, but my current nursing program does not provide a BSN after one year, but only provides the MSN at the end of the program. Will this be an issue when I try to transfer my license after gaining licensure? I really hope I can move back to CA immediately after graduation, and I really do not want to end up working and being stuck in MA for any additional time. If anyone could help me out by completely outlining how to transfer a NP license before graduation would be amazing. Thank you!

That is true. My only concern is the ridiculous rent price living in the city. Is anyone in need of a roommate? Hoping to keep living costs down T.T

Simmons Direct Entry Fall 2016
Hi guys! Haven't seen a forum for this program yet so I decided to start one. I finished my application around July last year and I haven't had heard a single thing from them since! Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about decision dates? My student portal still says being reviewed for completion.

Just got a call this morning about being accepted! I applied for FNP. She didn't specify whether I got into the Masters portion or not, but I guess I'll see once I get a formal invitation through the mail.

Are any of you considering applying for the post-masters FNP after this program? I'm trying to decide if I should go the post-masters certificate or a RN-MSN for NP route.

Deciding between nursing programs
Yes I completely agree with what you are saying. I think the thing that's mostly holding me back from the BSN program is having to deal with the application process for the Master's again. I'm not sure if doing the BSN-MSN or getting a post-masters FNP is the better choice. If I go with the Master's, I would have a higher degree and could potentially factor into job applications, whereas with a BSN would not really give me a leg up in the field. But I appreciate your advice and I have alot to think about!

University of Rochester ABPNN May 2016
Does anyone know if preference to the RN-MSN program is given to students in this program? I really wanted to get into the AMPNN but only got into the ABPNN. My decision to go to this school or not is really weighing on my odds of being accepted into the Master's program...
