Hi so in NYC we have job assistance which 1199 provides I do not have any job offer yet. I have to take a test first and then they give employment help. They help cna and other healthcare workers the same way.

1199 seiu test help
Hi, So I will be meeting with 1199 for possible jobs but before that I have to take a test. I'm thinking its probably pharm with some math, but i'm not too sure. I was just told there would be a test. I was hoping if anyone on here would know what is usually on the exam and what I should focus my studying on?

new grad having extreme difficulty
I actually did this today!! but most of the nurse managers are out of office due to vacation or other reasons. But I did manage to hand in my resume to about 3 units. I want to do so for other hospitals as well but not sure how to get past the security. The nurses were not annoyed on the units like I've heard from other people they actually encouraged me to go to all the floors. I'm just stuck on how to go past the security for other hospitals.

new grad having extreme difficulty
Thanks everyone. So I actually got an interview for Long Island hospitals :). I hope it works out. It's far from where I live but it is manageable. I also didn't realize the thing about summer possibly being slower because most people do take a vacation. Most of my class mates got the job offer around June to start in July or started working in march and had their offers by February. I feel I just had bad timing and missed the cut offs. I gave a call to my loan people and got an extension for 3 months. I'm going to give working in New York another month and if not I'll look into upstate ny or more places in Long Island. I'd love to move to CA but I guess for the time being I need to work on applying to more places.

I was originally hoping for a speciality of my choice but I really have no preference at this point. I apply to all positions. As for relocating I'm sorry but I don't see how one can move to a new place with out having money. You would need money for rent and food and that's just for basic needs. How do you move and relocate with out a job or income?

Thanks, it helps to hear that this is not such an abnormal occurrence. I am applying everyday, all I can do now is hope I suppose.

new grad having extreme difficulty
So I graduated nursing school with an accelerated BSN from NYU in January. I have a former degree in psychology and some work experience just not in a clinical setting. Its almost august now and I've gotten no offers from any hospital. I can't relocate because lets be honest relocating isn't cheap and requires money. As a new grad I'm living with my parents and applying for jobs. My loans are almost due... I'm open to working in any specialty, any shift. Not sure what is going on. I've applied to hospitals in Long Island as well. I really need advice on what to do or if anyone has information on who I can contact.

Columbia University MDE Application
I believe only one class can be an online course. I took nutrition online, but all other courses were in class. If you do them online it might effect your admissions decision.

New grad job search and tuition payment
So I'll be graduating soon and I can't help but worry if I'll find a job when I graduate! I really want to work in mental health and plan on later getting my PMHNP degree but how can I get a job in the field as a new grad nurse in NYC. How would I try searching for some? I've tried looking but most require work experience. Most jobs in any field require work experience which I can't get unless I get a job. So where do new grads in NYC work? Also are there any hospitals or programs that pay for continuing education? Like pay for tuition in exchange for work? I only know of NYP and langone paying some towards tuition but not much.
