People just do not know how difficult it is to continue to prosper with so many people ready to SLAM the door shut in our faces. My hat goes off to you. I'm glad you made it.

This sounds like the best thing to do. My grandmother had one friend and she never did anything more than have lunch with her until after 40 years when they both retired.

Homework assignment? No ma'am. I just talk about interesting subjects at my own discretion. Good idea for an assignment; however. I am so sorry that you have been made fun of for your weight, that stinks. I did want to inform you that while I highly respect your choice to respect the views of African natives, I challenge you to think outside of your choice. I am African-American. I am a descendant of Africans like those you work with, and I am also American. See how that works? I am not black, just the same way you are not white. We are not crayons inside of a box, so I suggest we start thinking outside of the "color" box.

Good afternoon everyone, I am curious about this issue. I had 2 surgeries when I was 18 but it wasn't until a surgery in my 20s that I realized the risk factor in not waking after general anesthesia, are there any medical professionals that have witnessed this happening with a patient. If so, do you mind talking about it. Was there a reason that it happened, and what was the protocol for dealing with a patient when it does happen? All words are welcomed.

Honestly, I would not hold it against an older patient. Why? Because there are several contributing factors to consider when dealing with someone in that age bracket. I hope that it eventually stops with the cohorts of the preceding generation.

I understand that.. I try not to refer to people as a color. I'd rather say Caucasian. Just like I would rather be called African-American rather than Black guy or man.

Wow this was a little scary for me. I hope that when I am done with nursing school, that I am more prepared or at least know the difference between catheters.

It is always sad to see African-American's who are prejudice against every race, including their own.

Ok, thank you for sharing this. I have a friend.. actually had past tense.. that had a boyfriend and many other straight guys that would come around. Whenever something happened at her house from mild to major, these men would come to me. They knew my orientation, but when it was something going on with their body.. they came to me and asked because they heard I was studying nursing. I always would find it a bit funny because some of these men were extremely homophobic, but when their anxiety level reached its peak, they could care less if I were big bird from sesame street, they BEGGED me to help lol.
