  1. I am considering applying for a Nurse Tech position at a local hospital. Does anyone have any experience with this? One of the requirements is being a nursing student. I am wondering if this is just a job or if there are other perks like clinical hours overlap, or will I be given time to study? Why is it tailored JUST for nursing students?
  2. Madisongrinn, They actually said the more people there are in DFW, the easier it is to get placed because they can group everyone together. The drug test you will have to do after acceptance. They will send a packet with the acceptance letter that will have directions for everything you will need to do. Also, regardless of what nursing school you go to, you will need to be up to date on your immunizations. If you are not up to date or if you don't have proof of them (which was my case), start working on it now. You can use positive titers or redo the immunizations. Hep A and Hep B require a series so those are the ones that are important to get started.
  3. I'm in my first semester at TAMUCC and I live in DFW. Yes, DFW is one of the hardest regions to get placed for clinicals. However, they have a hospital in Gainesville and one in Waco. I should hear after spring break about clinical placement, but everyone else in the program already has their placement....except me. So I'm guessing I couldn't get placed here [emoji52]. I'll let y'all know more once I hear. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  4. It was fine...very basic subject. They just wanted to see how well we can write.
  5. Sarah, I've heard the face to face students have already received their letters. Did you get accepted? I applied for the spring 2016 eline program. We had to do a proctored writing sample today and interviews will be on Wednesday. We should find out by the end of the month of acceptance or denial.
  6. What did you decide to do? Did you do the proctored writing today?
  7. Yes, I have Dr. A. My name is Cindy. Do u have Facebook? If so, feel free to add me. Facebook I'll be eager to hear from them!!! I hope you are having fun at the festival today!! Good luck studying!! :) If u have study questions, I'll do my best to help 😀
  8. I'm in Patho, too. I didn't do as well on the test as I would've liked to. Oh well, just means I'll have to work harder next time. I've been studying like crazy for the Pharm test, though.
  9. Ok, good. I was afraid it got buried in my junk folder. When I spoke with ********* to schedule my interview, she said she would send out instructions for the interview once everyone had scheduled one. Hopefully we'll hear something soon! Are you ready for your Pharm test, Monday?
  10. Did you receive your instructions for the WebEx proctored writing? ******* said they would be going out this week but I haven't received anything. I just emailed her and got an automatic response stating she is out of the office all this week (so that's weird since she said she would send the instructions this week). I just want to be sure I didn't miss them.
  11. Call NOW!! She just answered!!! 10:04 am
  12. OH!!! I remember seeing you from previous posts and I thought I remembered you being from the DFW area. Guess I was wrong, sorry! 😀 Well, either way, congrats on getting accepted to your first pick!!! 🎉
  13. Were you able to get a hold of ********* today (Monday) to schedule your interview?
  14. It would be nice to have a fellow DFW-er to study with but if UTA is your first choice and you've already been accepted, I would go with that. Plus, if there are any issues, UTA is MUCH closer than A&M if you have to travel there for any reason.
  15. I live in Fort Worth so...7-8 hours. And to answer your questions from the other thread: yes, I'm in Pharm also. Yes, a test the same day. I am scheduled to take my test at 10 because I have another class at noon and I will do my writing sample at 5:30. I don't know what they will ask us to write about. I'm comfortable with the interview but the writing sample...I'm nervous. I started a thread hoping to get some insight but no one has responded. --Cindy
  16. Hi Jana! I made a similar post around the same time you did. I also got the same news. It's pretty convenient that we can interview via webex. Speaking of, did you have any problems scheduling your interview? When I called the number listed in the email, it said it was no longer in service. I finally called through the main line and left a voicemail.
  17. I have applied to the eline nursing program at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I just got invited to the second round of the review process which consists of a proctored writing sample and an interview. This is very unexpected so I'm trying not to freak out over it. Does anyone have any advice on what I should expect? TIA TAMUCC
  18. Oh my gosh, jlively!! I just got the email invitation for the second round. This is NOT what I was told would happen. It's ok, though. Just one more hurdle and a step closer. On the bright side, interviews can be conducted via webex.
  19. Yay!!! Congratulations!!!! 🎉
  20. Hi lovebug. Prereq's have to be completed before STARTING the nursing program but not before APPLYING to the nursing program.
  21. The advisor told me that interviews would only be performed IF they were unsure about accepting someone into the program. For example, if you received A's in your classes but did poorly on your HESI or vice versa. I was also told that eline students would not receive an acceptance email but it would in fact be in regular mail. Btw...good luck!!! I, too, have applied for Spring '16 eline. Either way, we're so close to finding out!!!
  22. I live in the Saginaw/Fort Worth area and I am awaiting a decision for the Spring 2016 eline program as well. I just wanted to stop and say hi since there might a couple of fellow DFW-ers who will be starting the same time. Smashfully, thanks for all the info!!
  23. If someone was unable to go to their doctor, where could they go to get immunizations?
