I 'm in a post master adult gerontology program and and I'm looking for a preceptor since May for primary care Advanced Heath Assessment. It is so very difficult to reach anyone and if you do they have a student , etc., etc, etc, I don't want to go on and on but suffice to say I'm sitting out the summer and Fall is not looking too good and my deadline is looming!! I'm so frustrated I'm considering changing to a program that sets up clinical s Anyone else having these issues?

I work in an acute HemoDialysis setting and our Physician atttending does not allow 0 potassium bath at all period because the risk of death. Instead for severe hyperkalemia patients will recieve dialysis with 2 k . The ICU can give Insulin and D50 to lower the extracellular K and force it back into the cell. also K exalate

Absolutely Look at the medications for too much BP meds- Most patients will tolerate dialysis better if they withold BP meds pre dialysis. Also send them for ECHO or EKG they may have heart failure. Some do better with Midodrine Also pain meds can lower BP

Pro is patient teaching and relationships with the patients is very rewarding Con for me when I was working Pediatrics CAPD CCPD in 1990 which was a long time ago- we had frequent on call back to the hospital for machine problems
