Perioperative Nurse Intern......
I am going to interview for a periop 101 internship soon and was researching the interview process when I found your point here. I had an idea that an OR nurse has a particular personality but could you lend some insight to me and please expand on this?

Anyone had serious doubts...about nursing and about self?
I can relate to this. It helps to distance yourself, stand strong, put people in their place politely when they act out, and if the culture of your unit condones accepts or encourages this kind of behavior you can stop putting up with it by moving on. I left and went to float team and have never been happier. Now I work almost all of my shifts with a majority of deeply empathetic, wise nurses WITH those soft skills nursing school can't teach. Oh, and the girl who tried to sabotage my externship in nursing school failed the NCLEX twice and got booted from her internship job. Those who aggressively place themselves on pedestals above us "plebeians" confuse me... why do they want to be nurses? Nothing wrong with taking NCLEX until you pass, but when you approach our instructor and say that their placement for me is a mistake... well... how do you want me to respond? lol Keep your humor and enjoy the work. Venting at work always makes it worse. Find someone who laughs with you.

Thoughts on entering OR or IR from med tele background
I have worked in med tele for two years and one year as a float nurse and love it but it is time for me to make a change. I've always worked 7p-7a. I would like to enter the procedural area and have two offers to interview. One is for a 10 week perioperative program to enter the OR nursing field. The other is for a part time job in IR with no formal orientation program. I feel comfortable with the perioperative route because it offers a transition program for nurses like me. However, IR is also very interesting to me and I would like to pursue this lead. Before I commit to interviewing with the IR position, I fear that having no ICU experience will be a problem. This is a level 2 trauma hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in the area. What are your thoughts? Would I be setting myself up for failure to enter the IR field? Thanks for reading, I am pretty sure this is my first post. I've been using this invaluable resource since nursing school and appreciate allnurses so much. Respectfully, Baxt86

Anyone work in the Mobile Pool for Baycare? or Agency travel here
I highly recommend the mobile pool. There is the resource pool and there is also contract pool, so it is very flexible. Pay is great. They tell you everything upfront when you call the recruiter. Does anyone know about any other hospital systems who have their own in-house pool recruiters? I am interested in finding other hospitals that offer contracts preferably in the northeastern and the southwestern states.
