  1. What Are the clinical hours like ?
  2. I’m almost done with my pre-reqs and I am currently taking English 101 through Straighterline. Per Excelsior, they said they are “unsure” if they will accept it. On Straighterlines website, it cites English 101 as being accepted by Excelsior. Excelsior states “It May be accepted but probably not because I’m going into the nursing program. Feeling frustrated. Has anyone done this recently and it was accepted?
  3. I’ve passed all my excelsior exams to date by using Distance Learning. I’ve been happy with their online classes and I also order the corresponding book through them because I don’t like reading an ebook.
  4. Thank you for the encouragement. I'm now done with microbiology and almost done studying for A and P.
  5. Thank you for the info - I will try to CLEP on as many I can
  6. I'm looking into Excelsior - it seems to be the only option for me with working FT and having kids :) my concern is not getting through the tests; it's the CPNE that I am concerned about. If someone fails this and they retake and fail, it appears that they only have two chances. This freaks me out... so... I am wondering if other colleges accept excelsior credits like they do with the CLEP credits? i cannot afford to spend all of that money and not be able to transfer to a community college.
  7. I know that United Healthcare does
  8. School nurse rn or lpn - $12 hourly assisted living -15-18 ltc- 16-20 hope this helps
  9. Thank you the info. I will contact the, tomorrow
  10. Thank you for that info! Orlando is an hour and a half from me :) What would the Valencia clinical schedule be like? I work Monday through Friday ... Trying to see if this is doable for me :)
  11. I need help finding online program lpn to rn. I work full time so online is the only option for me. Please help
  12. Hi Trisha :)
  13. Please help! I explored Daytona State College and looks like I won't be able to start due to working full time. Then I was looking at Excelsior and was excited but then read that State of Florida no longer accepts Excelsior graduates to sit for state boards. Are there any online options available? Or even a program in fl that is mostly online?
  14. I am relocating to Palm Coast Fl, that is 30 minutes south of St Augustine. I am seeking employment in a nursing home. I wonder how much that would pay? Are there Baylor weekends in Florida? How do they work?? I am from Ct and here we do 2 twelve hour shifts to get a 40 hour check for doing the Baylor weekend Thanks in advance for any help!!
  15. Connecticut LPN jobs are mostly in LTC. I love LTC actually. I am an LPN with four years experience currently working full time at $30.15 per hour plus medical benefits. This is in Fairfield County. I would say at any given nursing home in Fairfield County, in LTC, the average hourly pay is $25. However, the cost of living is very high. In a nice town, with good schools, you are looking at about 300k for a small house on a small plot of land.
  16. What happened? We are thinking of moving to pc as well. I am a LPN with 5 years experience. Wondering how the job market is as well as jobs for nursing right in pc
  17. Thank you for the info on the workshops! I have been navigating around Excelsiors site and just cannot find where the actual CPNE testing sites are. I am new to Excelsior, taking my 1st exam in a couple of weeks!
  18. I would like to know where the CPNE locations are and also where the Excelsior workshops are located as well? Thanks! =)
  19. How many CPNE sites are there and where are their locations? Also, I would like to have the info on the workshops too and the locations where they are? Or is there a website with all of this information? Thanks!!!
  20. I am supposed to be sending $75 to Excelsior College so my college credits can be evaluated. Before I do that, has anyone had Early Childhood Classes (Early Childhood 101, Introduction to Special Needs) Before I pay them, I am just wondering if I am wasting the $75 to have my transcript evaluated. I know some of my other college credits they will take. But Early Childhood ones?? Just wondering if possible to count as an elective??
  21. New LPN here, first job $25/hour plus full benefits!!! I am doing Sat and Sun 12 hour shifts but get paid for 36 hours!!! (Baylor)
  22. Just a FYI, the state lpn school's curriculum has changed. There are now prerequisites prior to entering. Once you are done, when the lpn applies to college, the lpn program counts as credits towards their associate degree. There is more info on this on cttech.org site.
  23. Sorry, I don't know much about P&C but I do know that the state tech school in Danbury is beginning an evening lpn class in Janaury 2009. If its not too far away from you, it might be a good idea to try to get into that. I just graduated from Bullard Havens and my financhial aid paid for most of cost. Just a FYI.
  24. Hey You!!! Ready for the Nclex?? I go August 11!!!!!
  25. They also have a very strict attendance policy, you CANNOT miss more than 7 clinical days for the WHOLE ENTIRE program. When you have kids, it is hard!!! The whole studying thing is that everyone studies/absorbs info in different ways. Some people need to study more than others. There were girls in my class that got straight A's and said they didn;t really study. I NEED to study ALOT to get that A.
