Hi Jade_01, yes it is true as I was accepted last fall under the exact same conditions. My teas was less than 80 and GPA less than 3. This criteria was true in 2015, I don't believe it has changed. Congratulations on completing your application to CSUEB, you have a good chance as a veteran! There are 6 veterans in my concord cohort, don't know about hayward. You should be hearing back from admissions soon, GOOD LUCK!

As a CNA in a SNF, I cared for an obese woman who got more care out of me than any other patient got from any staff in that facility. She refused to sit on the shower chair for a proper shower, so I had to manage washing her hair with shampoo and conditioner in bed which was a nightmare. Would refuse to get out of bed with assistance and demanded the hoyer lift which forced me to find help, impossible on day shift, and then grab her as she was being lowered into her giant wheelchair which would then smash my arms and break off all my (natural) nails. My arms were always sore and bruised. Then she would demand to go back to bed immediately after I returned from lunch break even though residents lunch was on it's way, which would of course involve an incontinence change and would cause me to be late for tray pass and coworkers always pissed at me for being late (she would cry if forced to stay up through lunch). Oh and for the giant BMs..... it was like she was delivering a baby every time, my god! Nothing could have prepared me for that. I found it was best to try and bag it rather than ruin the plumbing. I also found out that she was lying to me and the other staff about being married, having sons, and generally having a happy normal life. What I learned from this particular patient is that morbid obesity is a disease that comes with its own set of symptoms; selfishness, victimization, false realities and many other things that are just too strange to name. They don't get that big over night, it takes years of self destructive behavior which leads to a very damaged personality.

I got Concord Campus! Orientation August 13th!

Thanks for sharing your story! May I ask, were you in the medical field when you were enlisted? I ask because I was support, not medical. Is prior enlistmment a good thing or do they prefer fresh blood?

I'm considering the same thing except with the Army Reserves. I was enlisted active duty for 8 years and will be done with my BSN by 2018. I've missed the service ever since the day I separated but am also excited to join the workforce as an RN. So I think the Reserves is the best fit. As for competitiveness, I have no idea and just assume if I meet all requirements I will be considered. Good luck to you!

I just called the nursing department and they said do not go to the July 1st health Science orientation. They will be sending us information this month and as of now dates have not been determined for a nursing orientation. I need to let work know too...

I just got in too and waiting for orientation! Wish I was starting tomorrow but will have to wait until September.

What do you all think about current job opportunities in bay area for fresh RN grads? As long as a new grad is willing to apply to as many areas as possible and not be picky, then I believe there is hope. I have friends who graduated (within last 5 years) from private schools who took work in LTC, public heath, and even ICU in Bay Area. As for me, I am working as a CNA for now so I can put "healthcare experience" on my resume, but don't know how long that will last once classes start.

I did not go mainly because I worked a double last night... but also because I attended an open session as well as a CSUEB open house last year. The upcoming nursing orientation is mandatory but that won't be for several weeks. I'm assuming that we will get everything we need at that meeting. I got my official admission letter from the nursing department last week and am just waiting for the next order.

Wow! Sounds a lot like my upbringing! Only I have been out now for two years and just got accepted into a BSN program. Leaving home for the military was the best thing I ever did because it showed me I could do anything!

I was just like you once, stuck as an enlisted Soldier in a support battalion hating my job and dreaming of becoming a nurse. So instead of struggling for an online education that would take years, I put ALL my faith into the GI Bill and got out, moved from Campbell to the Bay Area and put my ass in class. The GI Bill has supported me through all my prerequisites and will continue to provide a comfortable living while I attend a state school for my BSN. If you really really want to become an Army nurse, get out and go to school, then come back COMMISSIONED. It's worth the wait and the GI Bill is the greatest benefit our government has to offer it's veterans, you should use it before some civilian in the white house takes it away.

we are supposed to go to our respective campus for orientation so definitely before then. Something makes me feel like we won't know until we pass the drug and background screening after June 20th.
