Hi so apply to a NC I position in a unit you like or that has a job positing. That is reserved for new grads or nurses with less than 12 months experience. That's what I did, and I received an invitation to interview about 1-2 months before graduation. Good luck :)

Hi! So I also graduate in December and so far have applied everywhere. I applied to numerous hopkins, ummc jobs, and also the RN residency at Washington hospital center. Have yet to hear anything back though, how about you?

I graduate in December and I sent in an application a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have redone my resume and being closer to graduation I want to apply again but it says not to apply twice or it will slow down the process. Has anyone else had this issue or applied twice and was still interviewed? Any suggestions?

hello, I'm am not starting this fall, but I did apply and received the email to take the battery. If you don't mind me asking, what was your timeline like from applying to being hired. After the battery, how long did it take to hear back? Be asked for an interview? Since they won't tell you if you weren't chosen it would be comforting I guess to hear from others that went through it so I have some idea of the timeline. Thank you!

Hello, I'm graduating in December, I applied to WHC and received the email to take the batter. How long after you took that where you contacted? They said on their site that because of the high number of applications they can't update everyone on status changes and I can understand that, but for those of you that went through the process could you tell me what your individual time line was like? Its definitly safe to lift when pregnant, but your right it depends on what you were use to before pregnancy to. I lifted weights for years and I deadlifted and did squats all the way up until I delivered. It's more about knowing your body and being jn tune with it and knowing what you can do and what you can't do and what your limits are ☺️

Congrats on your baby and being accepted! I was pregnant through my first semester and my summer semester, had my baby via C section and went into med surg 3 weeks after. It was hard, the hormones the stress, just everything. Luckily I had some very incredible and understanding instructors that helped me every step of the way. I remember one time before an exam I broke down in the parking lot. I was tired, stressed out, run down... I emailed my director of nursing and my advisor and they were there for me immediately and after that everything was so much better. Just keeping the instructors informed of how your doing and keep working hard you will be fine. Lots of people go through the program pregnant so it is doable! Scary, but doable! I kept telling myself, well now that I have my daughter that's even more reason to take this seriously! I did have a little break down but that's bc I was trying to hide how I felt and not letting anyone know what was going on with me. I remember the week after I talked to my instructors and vented, all the nursing instructors one by one made time to come say hi, hug me, and ask how I was doing. It's the little things. It was hard, but as cliche as it sounds nothing worth having comes easy. You'll be great! The fact that your worrying about it already shows you care! Good luck to you and remember your instructors are there not just to teach you what's in a book, but to show you first hand the compassion it takes to be a good nurse :)

Hello I was wondering if you had any luck with your job search? I'm in the same boat but I graduate in December. I'm RN to BSN enrolled already though but still will be job searching with ADN. I have seen Hopkins hire people from my ADN program that are BSN enrolled

I've heard of some people recieving the scholarship without the credit check! Atleast, it did not show up on their report

Hello! I'm right there with you guys with frustration. Even when I find an eligible facility, they have no NURSE corps points of contacts at the site, so being in the DMV area I'm applying along with thousands of other new grads. I have accepted a position at the hospital I do my clinical at, but it is not a qualifying facility, even though they are severely understaffed and in desperate need of nurses. So yes, this whole process is very frustrating, I'm hoping to work at this non qualifying facility while continuing the job search for qualifying facilities. Does anyone remember, do we have 6 or 9 months to find a job at a qualifying facility? What happens if I put in thousands of applications and i'm not hired? I know they say the scholarship will have to be paid back but there has to be some kind of exceptions if your putting in every effort to find a job but have no luck

Ah your so right! The waiting was incredibly brutal! I think I checked my email at least 20 times a day for MONTHS! I forgot to check my credit, so on July 20th (after hearing the first round had their credit checked) I figured why not check and there it was, CREDCO, in big bold! I started crying and then told myself NOT to get ahead of myself. Then I had my daughter by C-section on August 4th, was very busy the next few days because she was in the NICU, and then an hour after being released from the NICU I checked my email and there it was! I cried so hard i was scared my C-section would reopen (it would not have, but i was really crying ha). Good luck to you, keep your head up, your so close to hearing, try to do stuff to keep your mind off of it and yes having all these wonderful people on this site going through the same thing was so incredible and such a great net to fall back on when I was feeling low or stressed or just could not take the waiting any longer!

Hello, I am a final semester Associate degree student, also enrolled in my RN to BSN program. I anticipate graduating this December with my Associates and then next June (2017) with my bachelors. I really enjoyed school and have grown a lot as a person and as a nursing student. I am located in Maryland and I am a NURSE corps scholarship participant. NURSE corps is one of the greatest things that's happened to me and my daughter. I went right into med surg 3 weeks post partum and had terrible post partum depression, so without that extra income I would have been lost. Anyways, being a participant ask limits where I can work upon graduation as they have to qualify as a medically underserved area and have a boss score of atleast 14. Almost all of Baltimore and Washingotn DC facilities qualify. I was hoping to hear from nurses working in Maryland in these areas, both BSN and ADN, who can give me some insight on their experience finding a job. Will it help already being enrolled and soon graduating my RN to BSN program? Will they most likely tell me to reapply once I have my BSN? Any advice would be greatly appreciated on your experience, hospitals that hire new grad ADN or any other advice you may have. Thank you

So does anyone know if we aren't enrolled for summer semester does the stipend stop? Or is it continuous until graduation?

Hello, I'm in my senior year of nursing school and I want to work over the summer in a student Nurse position, PCT, or CNA. Preferably one of the first two so I can have the opportunity to learn more from the nursing aspect (not saying I wouldn't from the CNA position, but it seems that the student nurse positions focus on preparing you for the transition also). I've applied to University of Maryland Medical Center and it says my application is under review. Has anyone had experience with their application process? how long it took to hear back or how the interview went, also possibly any insight on working as a student nurse and then being hired on as an RN if they like the work you do? Last, any other hospitals that have good Student nurse programs? Thank you!
