  2. Hi! Im a high school senior and have decided to go with the nursing route! Im thinking of attending a community college to get my ADN and then go for my BSN to be an RN. On the list of courses for the ADN program at the community college near me, it says general ed classes (chem, microbio, anatomy, physiology, English, math, etc) a total of about 30 units and then below it theres a list of actual nursing classes totaling up to about 41 units. I was wondering if my first year of college would be dedicated to taking the general ed courses and the 2nd year would be to the actual nursing classes. So basically it would just be one year of real nursing studies??? I asked the admin lady and she had no idea.. So i just wanna know if in a community college the first year is for general ed amd the second is for murse classes and then i take my nclex and im an rn if i pass. Thanks!
  3. Hi! Im a high school senior and have made up my mind that i want to be a nurse. Im thinking of starting at a community college and after getting my ADN go for my bachelors. For the school that im looking at (chaffey college) there is a list on the nursing adn page of general ed classes that i would have to take and then a list with nursing classes. The first list has like 30 units, and the second one about 41. So a total of around 71 units. I was wondering if my first year in college i would be taking those 30 credit general ed courses and then the second year would be the 41 unit nursing courses and that would take two years total if of course i take it all when im supposed to take it. Im really confused with how it works, like is it basically one year of general ed and one year of actual nursing classes? I asked the admin lady and she had no clue..
  4. Ok wait hold up now im beyond confused here! so what i thought was that after doing my bachelors in nursing and passing the NCLEX, i would have to get a job in ICU, and work in ICU for like 2 years and then get into the CRNA? The ICU is that classes too or is that me getting a job in ICU. Then you said i wouls be spedning two years leading my specialty.. I thought CRNA would be my soecialty.. Would i be doing ICU somewhere else or is that also a school thing?? Please help!
  5. Hey! Thank you for replying! So since I'm getting financial aid which will cover most of my tuition and housing at California State University Long Beach i am considering going straight for my bachelors instead of going through a ADN first. I'll still have to take about $2000 in loans each year to pay the remaining of my housing cost. When i applied i chose speech pathology as my major so to change it i would have to wait till orientation. Do i have a chance here at being able to change toprw-nursing? Their STEM index thing for the nursing program is 3300 and i have 3780 (all based of sat and my high school gpa). Im scared i wont get accepered into the pre nursing program and end up losing the chance to study what i want! And integards to the the science thing, i am 100% determined to not quit and stay with nursing so i hope im able to get theough with it!
  6. Hi! So i want to be a crna. I am planning on starting wih a community college this fall and get my associate degree in nursing. Once i get my associate degree and pass the exam to be an RN. (Btw am i able to work in ICU so that i can gain experience? Or do RNs with an associate degree dont quality for that?) After my associates degree, i plan on continuing my education and go for a BSN in a RN-to-BSN program. Then i plan on entering a graduate program to become a crna. I know you need ICU experience to be accepted in a crna program, so to gain time i was wondering if i could get ICU experience right after i get my associates an during the time i study for my BSN. Please any advice would help!
  7. Hi! My goal is to be a crna. Im still a high school senior so i dont have much info on all of the requirements to be a crna. I plan on going to a community college and getting an associate degree on nursing and then go for my two next years to get a BSN. After i plan on going for my masters and enter a nurse anesthetist program. Am i right here? Or am i missing something that i have to do? Also how hard is the whole process education wise? I love math but not so much science cus my high school teachers havent been the greatest but i still want to go through it. Any advice?
  8. hi! About how many years of ICU experience is enought to be considered for the nurse anesthetist program? Also i did say i would go for my BSN right after getting my associates degree so not getting employment because of the lack of BSN wouldnt really be an issue since i would have mine. Btw after getting my associates degree and i jump into my BSN that is just two more years right? Thank you :)
  9. Hello! I am still a senior in high school and have a huge desire of being a nurse! I was thinking of starting at a community college since I don't really have the money to afford a 4-year. I was thinking of getting an associate degree in nursing, taking the exam to be a RN and transfering to a 4-year to continue my next 2 years. After that i would like to complete my masters degree and all the training necessary to be a nurse anesthetist. I am pretty good at math but im not too into science since the courses i've taken in highschool are taught my teachers who don't really teach. Is this a solid plan? Do i have a chance here or am i just dreaming?
