mkinn57 has 20 years experience and specializes in home health 5yrs/ambulatory surgery 15yr.

Diploma RN from Tenn now residing in CA. Moved here after Colo -rectal Cancer surgery and treatment. After 20 years and wanting to start a new life away from Tennessee I am finding it difficult to even get a call back. My resume is on every headhunter site. I call and fax resumes to locations hoping for anything, Truth is I am 58 yrs old went o Nursing school as a single newly divorcee and felt I got a great education. I graduated on my 38th birthday. I feel burnt out, seems like I have not been happy in any job since the cancer. I was off work 6 months returned to a job of 10 years that I loved everyday. Then when I returned it wasn't the same for me. I want out but have to make a good living and being a Diploma RN is only getting me the crappy work load and attitudes from much educated much younger nurses with not as much experience but my superiors with bad attitudes and bad work ethics. I have depleted most of my saving on medical bills and moving to live with my son. Who by the way is studying and heading toward medical school. I don't know what to do now, Past experience 5 years in Home Health with 5 years as a team manager, 15 years in surgery circulating. I just don't have the energy I used to have and I can't work with the rude, unprofessional, people who seem to be out here half my age. Going to school is so costly to get that BSN after 20 years and hoping I could retire by 70yrs old. I feel that most nursing patient care jobs are so physically demanding even though I love the patients and get along well with most all doctors. My lack of education seems to be the problem with getting a slower paced position. Help Please
