  1. Sorry for the late response! I just finished my first semester and while it is hard I really do like it! The faculty, for the most part, is AWESOME. The fast pace can be a little stressful though. However, the major downside to the program is just how expensive it is compared to U of M. But I don't regret my decision to go here over U of M. Hope y'all get in!
  2. I also LOOOOVVVVEEEEE my MacBook Pro, but if you're looking for something light then maybe the tablet is the way to go.
  3. Yea sure. Sounds like you're back pedaling. At least own up to your opinion (no matter how bigoted it may be).
  4. So who, according to you, is the most racist group in America, Jory?
  5. I know that this might be hard for you to come to terms with, but did you ever think that maybe...just maybe the job went to the BEST man for the job, regardless of race? *drops mic*
  6. I'm assuming OP meant that mid 30's is "up there" in regards to child-bearing age...
  7. Your "line cook" example actually does NOT work in this sense. A line cook requires very little beyond basic training which is why only experience would matter. Nursing is a far more complex profession and should be regarded as such. I take it that you only have your ADN and aren't trying to obtain a higher degree. If that works for you then fine but please stop trying to fool yourself into believing that the degree holds little value in the workforce.
  8. Based on the fact that those with a BSN have a higher level degree, yes their STARTING pay should be higher! Then, as time goes on, experience should then lead to raises for both those with BSNs and ADNs.
  9. How do figure that it should take 5+ years to obtain a BSN??
  10. Well your Bachelor's in another field has no standing in the nursing realm...great that you have it, but no it doesn't have much standing in this situation.
  11. It has nothing to do with us needing to "validate" ourselves. It's just simple: if I have a higher level degree than you, then yes, I feel as if I am more educated in THAT FIELD. Not that I'm smarter than you necessarily, just more educated in that regard.
  12. Well I know from actually speaking to nurses in my area that hospitals are beginning to make that salary difference, so getting a BSN is definitely in my favor. Hopefully more cities/states do the same. Those earning a higher degree deserve higher pay...in my opinion of course
  13. Well I will be going for my BSN so I may be slightly biased lol. On this site I actually see more of BSN bashing than ADN. It seems as if it's okay for ppl to say things such as "BSN's are a waste of money", "We're all nurses in the end", "The ADN programs in my area are better anyway", etc., but if I were to say that "BSN programs are better because in the end you end up with a higher degree" then I'm bashing. While I do agree that it is wrong to bash anyone based on a degree, let's not ignore the obvious benefits that come along with getting a BSN, such as salary increases. With that being said, if you can pass the NCLEX you get a big thumbs up from me!
  14. And a great night and wonderful careers to all!
  15. I was only speaking in regards of the portion that I put in bold. So YES, we ARE just going to disagree on that statement. And I don't think I'm better than anyone. You throwing in how long you have been a LVN made you sound as if your opinion was somehow better than that of a pre-nursing student.
