  1. This post totally hits home with me! I'm a new nurse working night shift and my one year mark is coming this fall. I am dying to transfer to another unit. My supervisor schedules us every other weekend Friday Saturday Sunday, and on night shift it just takes a huge mental toll on me. It's encouraging to see others getting jobs or transferring before their one year mark.
  2. It is a difference for working in the med center. No, night differential is another 4.75. I know I was slightly shocked at first too.
  3. I'm in the new grad residency TMC at St. Luke's and starting at 28.84, as well as a $4 geographical difference which makes it 32.84 Hope this helps!
  4. I interviewed on a Friday with the nurse manager then was offered the following Thursday.
  5. I was offered a position for the fall residency, and they pay 27.64 an hour!
  6. I feel the same way! I'll private message you my Facebook ☺️
  7. Oh absolutely. I probably applied to over 100 jobs before I finally got the one meant for me. Maybe 10 or 11 tower will be good luck for you, like for me! They are actually sister floors so some floating to both ☺️
  8. Have you heard anything back yet from your interview?! Still wishing the best for you!
  9. That opening I actually think the recruiter created specifically so I could get my offer letter faster and thankfully I got it today! I am not sure it is a true opening. However, it is more surgical.
  10. Well best wishes! Do you know of anyone else who has interviewed for this cohort?
  11. Any update? I talked to the recruiter today but I think she may have been busy towards the end of the day. No real info.
  12. I interviewed on Friday and was offered on Monday when I called just to get an update. It was a freak thing I think haha. But I'm stilllll waiting on an official offer email!
  13. Aw yay I'm so glad! What units did you interview on?
  14. Behavioral questions like "describe a time when there was a conflict with a coworker" etc. You can google behavioral nursing interview questions and should get a few good ones to practice. I interviewed with two units because that's what they had available for where I wanted (cardiac). I interviewed with one educator for the first part. Two managers and then two nurses on one unit, one manager on the other.
  15. I interviewed last week and received an offer! The interview with the educator was very basic, getting to know me type of questions. They did ask two scenarios to diagnose and give interventions, and a delegation scenario. I interviewed with two units. The first was more laid back. Some behavioral questions but more the most part going over my interview. I was able to talk to two nurses who worked on the floor as well. The second unit interview was more formal with behavioral based questions and some stress questions (why should I hire you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years). Overall, process went very smoothly!
  16. Well good luck! I just got an offer since I had my managers interview already, wish you the best!
  17. Wanted to try to start a topic for all of those who have applied/interviewed for any fall new grad residencies in Houston at the med center. Anyone want to share what they've been through so far with Texas Children's, Harris Health (Ben Taub), or St. Luke's, etc? I've interviewed twice for Ben Taub and have an interview scheduled for St. Luke's coming up. Haven't heard from TCH yet. Anyone in the same boat?
  18. Have you interviewed anywhere else in the med center?
  19. Will do! Let me know how the interview goes. Wishing you the best!
