  1. It really depends. Most of the hospitals here either only hire BSN or ABSN trained nurses or they prefer them. There a still a few hospitals that hire ADN but they expect you to eventually get the BSN.
  2. Do you what has been the typical GPA cutoff?
  3. Are you in the program or do you go to Memphis?
  4. Hi, how long did it take you to get a response? And what was the cutoff last semester, if you don't mind sharing?
  5. I added you mines is pagingdrdiamond_
  6. Same but I have family in Tennessee that have been helping me navigate the area. My dad's also from there and we plan to go look at places together before I decide to not stay on campus. Only reason I'm considering off campus. I wish I would've know you were looking into on campus housing when I applied. I would've listed you as a possible roommate.
  7. I looked into the park Ave apartments since they are next to the building where the nursing school is held. But other than that I've been looking locally as well
  8. Of course, have you thought about housing options if you get accepted?
  9. Hi, no I applied to the traditional program. I'll have a bachelors in May but didn't want the fast pace.
  10. Yes, ma'am. It definitely will.
  11. Same, I just don"t like waiting lol.
  12. I know where both of those places are. From what I've read they usually have a cut off around 3.0-3.2. Even though the minimum GPA is 2.9 (I think). The advisor I talked to said anyone with a 3.0 and above typically is fine.
  13. Yes, I'm from Chicago, but I have family in Memphis. I've read that too. The dean said they would email us. I wonder how many students they accept a semester.
  14. Hi :). I'm anxious but excited all at the same time. Are you a transfer student?
  15. Where are you getting it engraved? I've been looking for a place that does both.
  16. I too am applying for the Fall 17 but as a traditional student. But I heard that you take classes with both accelerated and traditional students.
  17. Hey, from your experience is your application being under-review this early a good or bad thing?
  18. Thank you ktee. If you don't mind sharing what was the cost of the books for the first semester and do they pick your class schedule or do you pick it for yourself?
  19. Hi, thought I would make a discussion for those of us applying for the fall of 2017 to the traditional program at the University of Memphis. I've seen several for the accelerated, but with the deadline only a week away, I figured it might be nice to meet future classmates.
  20. For those of you that got accepted, what were your stats (if you don't mind sharing) and if you have started the program, how do you like it, what are some things you wish you knew before starting?
  21. To those who were accepted into UM LSON, did you apply to the accelerated program or the traditional program? Also, how hard was the application process and how hard is the program now that you are in it?
  22. Hey, med schools do not look at your high school gpa. They look at your college gpa. I will say that whatever college you attend try to get a good gpa there. Get some experience and be involved. For med school you take the MCAT which is another test you take about Jr. yr. of college. If you are thinking about something other that medicine like nursing or other field in healthcare, you gpa may play a part depending on the school and program. Like for my college if you have a certain gpa and act from high school you can get guaranteed admissions into certain programs.
  23. Hello, I am currently a student at Mizzou (UofMissouri) and I will graduate in Spring 2016. I am applying to both Rush and UIC and possibly two associate programs for backup. I will have a degree in Health Sciences, I would have completed an internship in Nutrition and with a Nurse Practitioner. I have numerous clinical and volunteer experience, clinical related work experience and I am involved in leadership on campus. I guess my question is for those who have applied/or have been accepted, what do you feel makes a strong applicant. I have a 3.1 cumulative (took classes that I didn't like and got stressed) and a 3.5 science gpa. I still have a few semesters before I apply and want to know what was your experience like and any advice that you can offer for a future applicant.
