  1. I like the idea of working in the ER. I was an ER nurse before going to CRNA school. I like the fast pace environment. I am trying to decide if I should do FNP or AGACNP.
  2. You should also consider finding a residency program for the ICU. Not sure of the availability. But I did a 6 month critical care residency trained in different ICUs with a didactic component and then chose to work in the SICU. May be a little intense since you will be working on your BSN. Otherwise, Sounds like you are on the right track. Perhaps shadow a CRNA sooner just to make sure it is truly what you want to do. Also, programs are very competitive. Make sure you maintain a high GPA esp in the sciences. I worked in ICU/ER for 6 years. Only regret is not doing it sooner. Have some savings. You will not be able to work.
  3. I don't think there are any dual programs. CRNA programs are very specific to anesthesia and many programs going towards DNP. Best thing to do is acquire your MSN in anesthesia and later do a post certificate for FNP.
  4. I am not going stop doing anesthesia. I do very well. My schedule just allows me to go back to school. I am just thinking about the future and supplementing my role if decide to work at a smaller facility. I have thought about obtaining my DNP. I just don't think it will make as a practicing anesthetist. I like the idea of perhaps working in the ER or ICU using a different skill set as an FNP and CRNA.
  5. I am trying to figure out if I can just do the certificate program since I have a masters already. The only issue is that it is a MSNA not MSN.
  6. Yeah. That's true. Ultimately you just have to sacrifice. But I know a lot of new CRNAs graduating with 100-200k in student loans. My school debt was way less than that.

  8. I plan to continue working as a CRNA. I still truly enjoy my profession. I am thinking of obtaining the certification to broaden my scope of practice. Perhaps in the future, when I move away from the big city, it may help with job opportunities. I was an ICU/ER nurse for 6 years before anesthesia school.
  9. I have been a CRNA for 13 years. I am interested in obtaining by FNP-C. I live in TX currently looking for mostly online post master programs. I have researched programs close to where I live (UTA, TWU, and ASU). Anyone have any insight concerning these programs and clinicals? Or other programs to explore. I would attend part-time.
