RN-BSN competency-based then BSN-MSN credit based?
Has anyone done this before? I'm graduating with my RN right now and would like to jump right into my BSN and get it done quickly. Competency-based seems like the best way, but a lot of those are pass/fail. I'm wondering how it will affect graduate level education afterward if I go to a semester, credit, and letter-based system. Would I risk having to re-taking some classes? I'd rather not do competency-based for an NP degree. Thank you!!

Connecticut State Community College 2023-2024 Waitlist
You should def get in! In the mean time, make an appointment for a physical in July/August and make sure you have COVID vax (no exceptions) + at least one booster. Series in progress is OK as long as you are on schedule. Try to get your past lab work from doctors for proof of MMR, TdaP, etc and you'll need titers or boosters. Saves some stress

Connecticut State Community College 2023-2024 Waitlist
Finishing my first year at Gateway. Someone was over 100 on waitlist. They keep offering seats until the few days before classes start.

What were your stats like? My community college back on Long Island had totally different admission scoring so I was a shoe-in there but couldn’t start. The random 25% is annoying. Because if not for that I would have gotten in. I got an 83 on TEAS and a B or B+ in A&PI. But I have everything done except for the NUR courses.

Found out I have a pretty significant back problem, how to keep nursing?
Wow really? I’ve always heard of the great pay. I can see being overworked with the rapid switch to EMR and most likely lack of qualified nurses to do the job as it’s a relatively new field that requires a Masters I think like ANYTHING in nursing though it’s still completely unique to each person, workplace, and department. I’m not experienced in the field it’s just what I’ve found through my research (I’m a research junkie). I have some back problems too so I’ve looked into it. Seems like there isn’t a “good” option for back problems in nursing though! Just the LEAST problematic ?

Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program
I’m not sure there’s much that the ACEN can do with their “scoring” system. I looked at it when picking schools and it addresses curriculum, lab setting, overall student achievement, things like that. I’d be curious to see if they could take any actions due to what seems to ultimately comes down to administration/professor issues, not the program as a whole itself.

Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program
Okay I can’t speak to ANYTHING except the CURRENT accreditation status. The school as a whole was put on probation but has since been resolved. The nursing program is not on probation or at risk of accreditation being cancelled as of right now. I’d advise checking on ACEN and CCNE when anyone goes for their RN-BSN for this. Some schools are accredited with “conditions” or “follow-ups” and might be a risk, but Nassau is not one right now. (Pictured below) In my opinion some of this is not uncommon anywhere (getting retaliated against for a complaint, school siding with professor) I’ve had a professor ask for our opinions and I was new, not realizing that he just wanted you to agree with him. After he went around the entire class and they all just agreed with him, he came back to me to see that my opinion changed. Same professor required us to answer test questions with “Dr. Pasha says” and his definitions of actual dictionary words were incorrect. Multiple complaints, nothing done. I learned a good lesson though to not pick a fight I can’t win, and not make yourself stand out in a bad way. It’s NOT right, but a power trip on their part, we are unfortunately at their mercy, and I would suggest that anyone just get through it best you can.

LTC vs Hospital for first-semester clinical
I didn't even think of that! So much more difficult to learn when you have an upset/impatient person or even family to deal with vs LTC patients that know they are in it for the long haul. My father was the WORST hospital patient, I always apologized to nurses, doctors, etc because I felt badly. I have asked around and it seems like the floor I'd be on is very small and not too fast paced. Basically doing only ADLs 1st semester anyway I'm being told.
