  1. Your RN is public. Anyone can look it up online. However, I don't see a problem here. I have worked in a non RN role for a year and a half in a hospital. You simply work within your scope as employed. So don't touch IVs or do assessments or anything. You are not working as an RN while a CNA or an MA or anything. I see no conflict. And my bosses and co workers all know that Iam an RN.
  2. Hello OR nurses! I just accepted a position in the OR. Circulator, so non sterile. I have not started yet. I am new to the OR, but everytime I wear a mask with my glasses, they fog up or fall off. Also, I am getting older and really should wear bifocals. My eyes get dry with contacts. Even though I won't in the sterile field, what do people wear in the OR??
  3. What types of jobs are available for nurses who hate hospital work then?
  4. I just started nightshift. I was excited at the idea but i work 13 hour shifts and I feel like I cant do this. At all. I need sleep. Maybe not even nursing. Iam working 2 jobs in 2 states and Iam 42. I am truly miserable as a new grad RN and questioning my life choices and in a mountain of student loan debt now. I guess it will get better but I dont know.
  5. Iam a new RN. Been working for a month. Iam taking 4 patients on a tele floor (I still have my preceptor available) but how do I get more efficient? I feel so overwhelmed with morning med passes, charting. Even taking and giving report. Any advise or tip and tricks to how to get organized and efficient?
  6. I work in radiology and just got my RN. I would go for rad or US. Its rewarding and no poop to clean up. You interact with patients but are not ultimately responsible for them. I wish I had done radiology. Job market is great. Both are 6 figure jobs, but Iam in CA
  7. Anyone know why the interview is 4 hours long? The pay is between 42 and 50 an hour
  8. Do you have someone you can talk to? What is your support system? Have you shared this with your doctor? Is there anything you really enjoy that you could spend a little time doing ? Remember to live just in the moment. When we think of everything at once it overwhelms us. So day by day hour by hour if need be. Try motivational short guided meditations on you tube. They helped me. Focus on your accomplishments. To be where you are today is huge!!! Be proud! Even if you have a crappy day find something to feel grateful for. Individuals can be horrible. Don't give them emotional power over you. Learn what you need from them and forget about them after that.
  9. Iam starting school next month! Iam so excited and slightly terrified. I too would appreciate any advice on this journey.
  10. So. ..I scored in the top 36 applicants on my entrance exam and got accepted into the RN program! !! The $50,000 private school that is 2 hours away. I can only get financial aid for half of my tuition. (Iam tapped out of federal aid due to a prior bachelor's and don't qualify for private loans for that amount) Do I go to my local and much cheaper junior college and work on prerequisites ? Iam so scared I won't get in to another program again. I am in Northern California and it is extremely competitive and lottery based which makes me crazy! This emotional roller coaster is starting to get to me. Oh and I tried the cc at the beginning of the year and could not get the classes I needed. Then explored the private option...got in... can't pay for it. . Back to the cc worth a semester wasted.
