UAB Summer 2021 MSN NP Applicants
I got in to the FNP track! Nice! I’m actually pretty surprised because I felt like my essay was hot garbage.

Nothing here yet. I also applied for the midwifery initiative through ODU and Shenandoah, but I don’t think I will hear anything from that until May, so ??♀️

UA MEPN 2018
CEP? I apologize, I'm not familiar with the acronym. I felt like I had plenty of hours. As someone stated earlier, the first three semesters, when you have clinicals, they are typically twice a week and are twelves, with the exception of diverse settings during semester 3 which is based on wherever you are. In fourth semester, I did three twelves back to back for six weeks in the hospital and three weeks in community health. I liked all of my clinical instructors and felt supported by them (though this is not true for everyone in the program). I really started understanding things better in fourth semester, like it was all coming together. So I would say no, I never felt like I "didn't have enough time" to learn skills and practice them. We had more than enough skills lab time, and honestly, what your mentor nurse is willing to let you do would be more of a factor for me than time spent. Sometimes I felt like there was a little disorganization, which bothers me because I am very type A. Additionally, some faculty were more supportive than others. I also had more than a few papers that took a month or more to get a grade. Really, that's all I'm comfortable saying openly on the forum, but you're free to PM me. Overall, the experience was positive for me, but it wasn't without its flaws.

UA MEPN 2018
Hi! I graduated in August and was a member of the 2016 cohort. A few things have changed for the cohorts after ours, as we did not have to take the HESI. However, we did the interview and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You have an interview buddy and you switch off on who answers questions first. They tell you not to look at that person as competition, but rather, as a future classmate. Both myself and my partner got in, but my partner chose to go back home to a program in California instead. I saw the comment made about the DNP program and "guaranteed acceptance" if you have above a 3.5. I don't know if that is something that has changed with this year, but I had a friend apply and she was not accepted and had well above a 3.5 and was very active with community service and did great in clinicals. She was told that they didn't even look at her application. So take that for what it is. There were some things I didn't like about the program, but overall, I liked it. I felt prepared to take the NCLEX (which I just did yesterday) and have two job offers, one of which is in my specialty of choice. I had another interview two weeks ago and I am waiting to hear on that that one. Every manager I have talked to has had a high opinion of the program and loves hiring MEPN grads, so I am glad for that.

I put Tucson Only on my application. My partner is at the base, so I really couldn't move up there and I'm not commuting.

I got in! What about everyone else? I was really surprised because I didn't feel great about my interview, but I guess it was a little better than I thought.

My pre-req GPA is 3.37 but my overall is 3.85. Not great, but I'm hopeful.

It is December 15, I think. I already have all of my stuff done though, so I figured that I might as well apply now.

UA MEPN 2016
Hello! Just wanted to see if anyone else is applying to the University of Arizona MEPN program for summer 2016. I just applied a week or so ago and it's going to be a long wait!
