HHC's 11-New York City Hospital System Facing $1.8 Billion Deficit
The city's flailing public hospitals are more than $6 billion short on cash through 2020 — and Mayor de Blasio's rescue plan is no sure thing to save them, an official budget watchdog found. An Independent Budget Office report found the massive $6.1 billion shortfall exists for Health and Hospitals even after the city upped its spending on the agency by $558 million in 2016 alone — to a total of $2.4 billion.http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/new-york-city-hospitals-facing-6b-shortfall-2020-article-1.2695168

New grad rn job search!
Go West young man ( except San Francisco, LA, San Diego). The Big Apple is saturated and flooded with experienced nurses. It will cost hospitals approximately $60,000 just to train new grads. It is purely Economic 101- demand and supply story. Best of luck to you. IMHO.

What's up with all the 'failed NCLEX' posts?
NCSBN raised the passing standard from -0.21 LOGIT to -0.16 LOGIT ( effective April 2010) to 0.00 LOGIT ( effective April 2012 ). On Dec 9, 2015 meeting, NCSBN decided to uphold the current level of 0.00 LOGIT and will remain in effect until March 31, 2019.

Help!! Looking for a RN job in NY
Hospitals in North Dakota are hiring new grads. You can always go back to NY once you acquired your experience. Just my 2 cents.

Is it me (with no experience) or the NYC job market still sucks?
Jacqueline Berrien, a civil rights lawyer who was President Obama's chairwoman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, died on Monday (Nov. 9, 2015 ) in Baltimore. She was 53. Will the workplace be more inclusive and discrimination less common when my children, my godchildren, or my nieces and nephews enter it?†she asked in an interview with The Washington Post in 2011. ( New York Times Nov 11, 2015 )

" No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." - Nelson Mandela

Is it me (with no experience) or the NYC job market still sucks?
For more info: Sep 5 by JustBeachyNurse Quote from universalnurse My agent filed EB3 for me in August, and I just got a receipt number from USCIS, there is a date showed on the paper, just wondering is that my priority date? and how long does it take to get a final interview after that? Yes. If you were born in the Philippines it's around a 11 year 3 month wait.due to retrogression. JustBeachyNurse has been a member since Aug '10 - from 'East Coast, USA'. The November 2015 EB3 employment-based Visa Bulletin for Philippine nurses is out. The waiting time is exactly 8 years & 4 months & 17 days. No HR Directors with their rational mind will have the patience to sponsor Philippine nurses when there are abundant qualified local nurses in the labor market.

To achieveanything- May I know which facility of HHC you are referring to ? I have many friends who happen to know one of the HR Directors of HHC and she can call him/her to verify the real story behind what you witnessed ?

Nursing in USA or Philippines?
They said nothing is certain in this world except death and taxes. I'm 100 percent certain also that California BON will not grant you ATT if you obtained your BSN in the Philippines due to concurrency issues. Moreover, you cannot also endorse your RN license from other states to California.

To Achieveanything- I can feel your pain and sometimes many of us will always look for anything to blame for our frustrations specially if we have student loans to pay. However, I suggest that we do a little bit of research before we start throwing stones. There is retrogression for hiring Philippine nurses since 2007 and as of October 2015 Visa Bulletin the waiting time for sponsoring Philippine nurses is 8 years. In addition to the astronomical cost of hiring overseas nurses, do you think any HHC's Human Resource Directors will have the time to patiently wait for them ? check this for more info: Visa Bulletin Movement for EB3-PHILIPPINES
