LPN for 15years with no complaints\ reporting on my license.
Probably not a unique story, and the program my help you realize that stress and pain can be helped with other modalities besides drugs. I would add that somebody said refusing a drug screen is looked upon as an admission of guilt by the board. Although true, you're federally protected from doing so and without any other evidence against you can beat that charge. Too late for that road but remember the program of sobriety can help your future.

"Safe Staffing" practices ~ nothing has changed
Having worked before the 'for profit' corps stepped in as well as many years worked for the big corps the answer to staffing issues is most commonly r/t to $$. Its no surprise that the present day patient safety movement so well trumpeted by many is heard off key in many areas. Many nurses tell me the units are now worse than ever, regardless of legislation trying to improve quality of care. You'll find that following the money is the primary mission.

Keeping It Legal
It wasn't too long after these posts that the Senate Sub Committee came out with its Pt Safety Hearing Report. The Chair of that hearing was none other than the Independent from Vermont Bernie Sanders. Any nurse, health care provider and physician who watched this or even testified would call my initial post here a very strong possibility. I am legally restricted from pt. details, but my name here is real, as is the evidence I have to substantiate what the Senate Sub Committee has brought forward in July of 2014. The ultimate question is, "So many go unreported"? The criminal element in our health care systems is as I said it was a year ago. You can call me whatever you wish, but when your wife, son, or mother is one of the 1000 victims/day of unreported, preventable damages and death, remember where you first read it. Peary Brown, R.N.

RN moving to Tuson
AZBON is lately being trumpeted as corrupt by many nurses. Not just this one case but several other cases for disciplining nurses for minor acts unrelated to Nurse Practice Act. Those reasons for this behavior is becoming known but wouldn't be allowed here. Seek and you shall find.
