  1. I'm sorry you are presently unhappy at the hospital. I work for Baycare HomeHealth and I am very happy(most times). It is true that satisfaction is currently the focus in delivering care for all agencies and settings, however as a supervisor, QUALITY of care is #1 in our office. I think that if you deliver quality care you will in fact have a high level of patient satisfaction. There are times when it is so frustrating though because some patients/families are just never happy. Their expectations are sometimes unacheivable. All we can do, is do our best, everyday. We do pay much more then $17.00 hour.:>) I hope you find where you need to be and good luck with the baby.

We provide fax machines for our nurses to fax in paperwork that must be returned for billing or scheduling. It makes things easier if their not coming into the office the next day. Our nurses are not salaried so they are paid for officework.
  3. Hello, we're due for survey sometime soon also. I get up and check the jcaho site daily:eek: . I'm the DON for a private home infusion company. This is very stressful. I think were alright with the safety goals. We're working on infection control and emergency preparedness. We have policies in place, but we think they may be looking for more detail with all the past emergencies and threat of flu pandemics. What's everyone think about that? Do you think we're getting carried away. We're in RI. No major past emergencies, but you never know, I guess. I look forward in hearing from others and how you all prepare. We have meetings bimonthly and discuss things that need work...completing PPR, updating policies. I just wish I had time to do my job.
  4. Hello, It's usually pretty easy. You instill about 2mls of TPA into the Picc and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes. You then draw back on the line and you can usually get a blood return. Works pretty well. Hope this helps. Brenda
  5. Hi Ghostcat, I'm a home infusion nurse. We put in midlines for therapies scheduled to run longer then 7days, or as you mentioned if pheripheral access is limited. The thing you have to remember is that a midline is still a pheripheral line it is not central. Although it does have extended dwell time (4-6 weeks) it can not be used for vessicant drugs or blood draws.
