WOW! Bless you Weetziebat! Thanks for the input! Welcome to HH. Yes, I have heard that to that HH is a whole new specialty in itself and that it will take a year to get comfortable paperwork and all. I just have to not let people get me down when I make mistakes on the paperwork and yes regaurdless if they want to or not someone with more expirence needs to accompany me out in the field if I haven't done a certain procedure because there are some things I haven't done in the hospital that you have to do out in the field and it is for the saftey of the patients! Thanks again :icon_hug:

Question...when working an 8hr shift is it okay to do all your paperwork in the office because I am not full time and it is hard to just bring it all home with me...and do any of you get paid for that time if it is over your 8 hours? Some just leave quit a bit of paperwork on their desks I just know if I dont finish it that day I will be lost!

Is it okay to draw a lab specimen from a PAC? And how about Huber Needles when the pt first gets them placed do you have to keep the needle in or can you remove it after the abx therapy is finished? One more thing can any one out there give me good instructions on how to give Vancomyacin Therapy through a Picc/PAC for the future I am having such a hard time:o Thanks!!!!

I keep making mistakes on the OASIS and it is soooo frustrating. I also had such a bad 2 days last week I did a soc on a pt who had a PAC and was getting ABX Therapy well I had to get a lab draw and I drew it from the port I guess I wasn't supposed to do that I was supposed to get it peripheral I thought you could do it from the PAC? Then the pt didn't want the Huber Needle left in the port so the pt told me that the supervisor said it was okay to leave it out because it keeps bothering her so I told her it was okay to have it removed the care giver had instructions on how to remove it... the other nurse went and saw this pt and didn't get blood return! I was told later that they need to stay in for 5 days :uhoh21: I don't know if I can continue in HH? I keep thinking about what I did or didn't finish ect... HELP any of you have the same expirences?
  6. I am new to HH as well it is a totally new field of nursing for me. I have such a hard time as well with all the oasis info and admission info Recerts ect... I am making so many mistakes and I am asked constantly to correct them it can be very confusing at times! I stay at work just to make sure I get that PAPERWORK in. I also feel bad because one of our agency traveling nurses is not going to be working with us anymore d/t making to many mistakes:uhoh21: and that makes me nervous!! Well, input would be good. I feel like you during the orientation process.

Hi, I am a new nurse in the field of Home Health and I am already afraid of being out there on my own only because you don't know what to expect..Dx ect...I get about 4-5 visits per day I think because of the lack of expirence I do have only 2 years of Med Surg exp...I wanted to try HH. I like it but there are some things I have seen out there in the homes that I haven't had a chance to work with in the hospital expecially wound care and my gosh the paperwork can be taxing anyway they are going to start putting my on-call and I need some advice should I tell my manager that I don't feel ready I'm just not sure? Any advice? Thanks!!:chair:

Hi, I am new to HH. I came from a medsurg floor. I haven't been a nurse for that long. I feel like a fish out of water not just the paperwork but it can be scary when you are out there all by your lonesome and my supervisor seems a little discouraged with me because it is taking me awhile to get the hang of things and I am constantly asking questions. Any input would be nice from all of you out there that feel my pain I do like HH though!
