I am currently one year into my FNP program and need to start looking for preceptors when I begin clinicals Summer 2021. How does one go about looking for preceptors? Is it acceptable to call offices? Send a letter? Drop off resume in person? What is the typical approach. Thank you.

Sounds like you already really know what you want to do if you are saying you are okay with wasting the 25000. But also remember nursing is not always weekends, holidays, 12+ hour days. There all all different types of jobs in nursing that don't work in those conditions.

Hi! So I am a new grad in the ED just off orientation for a week. I have never had to titrate a drug before until the other day of coorifice when no one was really around to help. Patient situation: initial BP 298/156. Patient was given multiple medications while down in the ER. We were holding patients in the ER because all of our inpatient beds were full so I had to carry out regular med orders. Order: Labetelol Instructions: start at 1mg per min then titrate by mg per minute to keep Systolic BP Between 180-200. HOLD UNDER 180. So when I asked another nurse how to interpret this she basically said just follow the instructions. The patient was on vitals q15 and and for some reason at the time I thought it meant every time I got a new BP to titrate up 1mg to the max of 3mg/min which I found out by looking up the drug. But an hour later the patients systolic was in the 160s. And I had to stop the medication. So so my question is did I do that wrong or right? Could I have left it on 1mg/min based on my discression?

I went to MCC a few years ago and thought it was a great program. I would definitely recommend it and the great professors.

The name of the "program" I applied for is titled Nurse Residency Program not just skills class. And it is through a hospital. The description says it is 12 weeks and you are assigned a preceptor to to help with critical thinking, assessment, and to become a more confident nurse. Then it says you earn the certifications I previously stated.

It's easy to say that when you already have a job. However I have been an RN for over a year and have not been able to get a job. So at this point I'm willing to do anything.

Hi! I just graduated in December with my BSN. I applied to a Nurse Residency Program but was wondering if the cost is an average amount for a program with no guaranteed job at the end. It is a 12 week program that will certify you in BLS, IV, Glucometer, and Arrhythmia Interpretation. It costs $650. Thoughts on this?
