  1. Hello, I am a new nurse, just started orientation 11/15. I was told that I can make my own schedule after the orientation. What suggestions do you have in making an effective schedule that will not overwhelm me as a new nurse. I can only work 3 days a week. Thanks in advance.
  2. How I PASSED NCLEX THE SECOND TIME: Long but may help one or two people I left Corporate America for nursing school and graduated October 2014. Did nclex January 2015 and failed. I knew that I was not ready for it, I moved my date until I could not move it anymore. Study materials: Kaplan, NCSBN and materials from SATA group. I was down for 2 days. I did a lot of research on study materials and how to study for like 3 weeks. STUDY TIPS: 1. I studied Saunders with each system per week, sometimes it took me longer. Did Saunders practice text online before and after I studied each chapter, along with LaCharity. Recommend both materials for setting GREAT FOUNDATION FOR NCLEX. 2. Took Kaplan over again. Consulted with some folks on this page to get a good understanding of the decision tree (great tool). 3. Do not be intimidated by the review tutors out there. You are smart and can do this alone. You just need to believe in yourself and put in more effort. YOU GOT THIS 4. I registered for Feuer Nclex review (great program). Prior to attending the class, I did Uworld repeatedly for a month. After the class I did Uworld repeatedly for another month. I used Uworld from May through July. I did not use any of the take home study materials from the review class and also stopped using Kaplan. Only concentrated on Uworld (THE BEST). Lesson Learned: 1. If it's your 1st, 2nd, 5th or 9th time, please don't let anyone intimidate you or take advantage of you. Most people know that Nursing Students will take any review class to pass Nclex. I never allowed myself to be a victim, I could have spent more than $650 for the review class including plan ticket, accommodation and meal. 2. You will lose some close friends, that fine. Let them go, focus of the R and the N (Nclex). Lol You will make new friends when you start working. 3. No review course will be effective if you don't have a good foundational knowledge. Start with Saunders if you have to and please take your time to study. Better slow and pass than to rush and fail. 4. We should celebrate with those that fail by encouraging and supporting them. It will be nice for them to also have 100, 200 likes. They worked hard as well. 5. Family is the best support system. Please surround yourself with positive people as you go through this. Answering questions: 1. Safety 2. ABC- directly or indirectly 3. Focused assessment – What will you look for or assess? 4. SATA – if one answer is wrong some others maybe wrong as well – If you don't select edema then don't select fluid overload. SATA answers with (a)Kidney Stones, (b) Osteoporosis, © Perioral numbness (d)Polyuria. When you select A, you know B and D will follow. 5. Do as little and as much as you can. Don't go by anyone's speed. We all learn at different pace. DO YOU!! lol EXAM DAY: Had 265 questions for almost 6hrs, most people that used Uworld passed with 75 questions. However, I never allowed that to discourage me. I treated each question like it was the first one. After the exam, I did the trick and realized that my result was on hold. There was a thunder storm and all the computers shut down. The hold was lifted after I explained the scenario to Person Vue. Repeated the trick after 24 hrs (Based on research, the trick is more accurate after 24hrs) and got the good pop-up, but was still nervous until I got my result 48 hrs after the test that I PASSED. Halleluyah ThanK YOU JESUS. YES YOU CAN DO IT AND WILL MAKE IT. THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT I MESSAGED TO GET WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND THOSE THAT CONSTANTLY CHECKED ON ME TO MAKE SURE THAT I WAS OK
  3. I read it on one of the Nurse's pages today: Taking Nclex 1 time, 2, 4, 10, 1000 times. It will never show on your badge or forehead. Let me tell you something. It will not determine if you get a job or not, where you work, if you deserve to be promoted or will be a great nurse. Do your best and let God do the rest. smile emoticonNCLEX is highly overrated (not sure if this is the right word to use). It is an exam that everyone must pass. However, anxiety or fear is not a requirement for passing Nclex. Even though we have been trained to fix every Pt problem, unfortunately its not the same with Nclex, so we freak out. DON'T LET NO ONE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD IF THEY PASSED AND YOU FAILED. YOU ARE STILL FABULOUS, HANDSOME AND SMART. TRUST ME YOU GOT THIS. (2) Please don't compare yourself with anyone. You are uniquely created and your ways will be different. Some say the test is similar/not similar, easier/harder. My advice is that we build up self convenience and study the material like no one has ever told us about the exam. Trust me, I know how it feels to have to take it over, I was a retaker. I had to own it and not fear it to make it to the finish line. Most people passed at 75, I passed at 265. I would have failed if I was only prepared to finish at 75. My desire was to finish at 75. CAn you imagine what it feels like to get through 265 in 6 hrs and not sure if you passed or not? The only thing that gave me hope was the fact that (1) I repeated the practice test over and over (2) recited the rationale as I go over them (3) Took my time to answer the questions during the test (4)above all, the MERCY OF GOD. There is a saying that, when you face your challenge, you will realize that it does not have half of the power that you have. Can I please get an AMEN. WE WILL ALL PASS!!! Go get the R to the N behind your name!

Consulted with some folks on this page to get a good understanding of the decision tree (great tool). 3. Found out about a private tutor (won't say name or location). When I contacted her, the price she gave me was $650. I tried to negotiate with her but she said Statistics shows that international students have a hard time passing NCLEX because English is their second language”. My response was in disagreement with what she said. I know people who passed with 75 on their first attempt. When I checked the tutor's facebook account the price was $500. I called her again to see if she will change her mind she said NEVER. So I thought this is obviously not a good sign and I did not sign up for the class. I was like well taking her class will not determine if I pass or not God will, so I kept praying. 4. I registered for Feuer Nclex review (great program). 5. Thank you all so much for the response. Just found out on BON that I passed the exam. God is GREAT AND WONDERFUL...TO HIM BE ALL THE GLORY...
  6. This is so true, I tried the trick 24 hrs after the test. Good pop-up but my name is not on BON yet. It's only 24 hrs after taking the test. I just tried the quick search now, could not find my name. I totally agree with you.
  7. I got a good pop-up after 24hrs. BON for FL says waiting for result. I did the Search Quick COnfirm and nothing came up under my name.
  8. thank you so much. I realized that the trick is not 100% reliable. Folks get it and still fail some don't and still pass. My result is in the hand of the Lord. I am praying so hard.
  9. Sorry for any typo, the tension is up there. Thanks
  10. Hello everyone, I took my nclex exam yesterday for the second time. I did all 265 in 5 hrs 30 mins. I was totally norm and could not move after the exam. I also lost my voice for couple of hours. After few hours I tried the trick to re-register. I got a message that my result is on hold. I was so worried because I did nothing wrong, but all the computers shut off during the test. The tension was so much for me. I could not sleep, eat or do anything. Watching TV was also a challenge for me. The only thing on my mind was LORD please I don't want to fail the exam. When I realized that if I don't do something, the tension will continue to rise. So I called Pearson Vue and explained to them that all computers were off during the exam and the center stated that a report will be sent to NCLEX or their main center. I was on a super long hold. The representation came back and hold me that the hold was lifted. I tried the trick again and got a good pop-up. He stated to wait for 48hrs to try the Quick result. Tension is down a little bit (praise God), my registration went through the first time I tested, but not this time (2nd time). NOW I REALLY WANT TO SEE THE REAL RESULT. Any advise? Has anyone been in this situation before?
