My travel nursing assignment has changed since I last wrote. I started at IHS in AZ, loved the job, the people were great, but they decided they were going to start doing away with travel nurses and LPNs were the first to go. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to work there, the experience was great. I then went to work at a LTC in KS again the people were really good to me. The work was hard, but the experience again was great. My idea is that I should learn something new at each job. I now am working at a cancer center in Texas. Again all is great. All is great & have had no problem with them teaching me new procedures. The travel companys pay for your housing and utilities. They also pay for your travel and most give you per diem pay to cover your expenses. I have been real fortunate to have worked with some good companies. I have not had any problems keeping busy, but I am signed up with more then one company.

I have been traveling for the last 2 months. I got a contract with IHS for a year. I had a choice of 3mo., 6 mo., 9 mo., or a year. I chose a year with bonus pay. I am working with Dakota Temp. They have treated me well. BonWat.
  3. What are my chances of staying busy as a traveling LPN. I do not want to work in a hospital, unless it is a VA facility or Indian Reservation work. Thanks for your help, Bonnie
  4. Thanks so much for your help. I will be sure to tell her this. She is in the process of getting her BSN. She told me that she has a test next month to take. I will just continue to help her with her medical English. I do know that their classes are not like USA, but she has made sure that she has done everything thru an International school. I have not visited that school, but do know that the others are below our standards. They have a school here that you have to pass an oral interview in English before you can get in it & then you are trained to be an international nurse. I helped another girl with her interview, which she passes, but lost contact with her, so do not know if she passed the school for international nursing. Again thank you for your help, my friend appreciates it very much.
  5. I am sorry I cannot tell you what part of Asia she is from. I have been asked not to release that info & I must honor her wishes. Her English (written, spoken, & listening) is very good. She is just nervous about possible questions that will be asked. I have given her examples of what I thought they would ask & have gone thru medical conditions in English to make sure she could explain them in English. Thanks for all of your help.
  6. I have an Asian friend who lives in Asia, who is trying to become an International Nurse. She is a RN. I am trying to help her with some possible questions that will be asked & what to expect, which is difficult, since I have never tried to be an International Nurse. I thought maybe there was someone who had gone through the process who can help me help her. Her English is good, but she wants to make sure she understands the question & to give an answer using good English. She said the interview will be in English & it is a must that her English me good. Thank you so much for your help.
  7. I live in Asia. I go to villages & do medical assesments try to teach them how they can improve their health/lifestyle without changing their culture. I have worked with stroke victims, heart & B/P people, etc. This is all very primitive, nothing like in the states. This is why I would like to take some online classes to keep me up to date on medical procedures & some of the new ways to do nursing. I feel like I need some more medical knowledge.
  8. I currenrly hold a KS & OK license. I have lived in the USA since Jan, 2000. I worked for ARC before that. I have continued to take my CEU courses 30 hours every 2 years for my KS license.
  9. Does anyone know of any online LPN refresher courses. I cannot go to school, because I am currently living out of the USA.
  10. Different originizations have different numbering for LPN's. When I worked for the state of KS I was a LPN IV (4), because of my experience & number of years working for the state. It had nothing to do with being IV certified, because I am not. The best thing to do is ask her where she heard about LPN II & what she thinks it means. If your organization does not recognize anything but LPN then you would just have to tell her that.
  11. I am glad to see your question, because I will also be returning to the nursing field. My situation is a little different then yours, I have been living in Asia for the last 5 1/2 years. I will be returning to the states next year. I have kept up with general nursing, because I have had to do some medical work in villages & have had to do CEU's to retain my license. I do hope that returning to the states & the nursing field will not be a problem. Good luck to you.
