  1. Do you have the Barkley CDs? That guy is hilarious. It's a little late in the game for you but when I studied for the ACNP test I threw out all my review materials and just listened to his lectures over and over again. It worked.
  2. Pick your clinical rotations carefully...it may be the only place you get offered a job!
  3. For my area, Sacramento, the estimate was ~5% too low. My salary is above the higher estimate after ~2 years of practice.
  4. I've been working as an ACNP for the past 2 years in CA. Went via a direct entry program that allowed me to take 2 years off after my RN licensure to work before starting the masters portion. My advice to anyone considering this line of work is to get your RN and work for at least 4-5 years, preferably in ICU/PACU or ED. Then, if you're looking for more consider ACNP (although if won't be called that for much longer) or PA.
  5. Is there any advantage, I wonder, to utilizing placement agencies in your area? I recently got certified as an NP and also haven't worked as an RN for 6+ months and am considering temporary RN employment.
  6. Either ICU or ER will provide valuable experience. In fact, contrary to naysayers, you can get your ACNP with floor experience. If you'd be willing to go either way though, I'd go with ICU. As an aside, some programs won't let an ICU RN train in the ER but will let an ER RN train in the ICU.
  7. Yo- I'm signed up to start the accelerated BSN program at UCHSC next January. Anyone have any inside/anecdotal knowledge of the program? Pros? Cons? etc. Peace
  8. Got a letter for an interview in the ACNP track. I don't know if I'm relieved or more nervous now. In any case, time to go chat up all the nurses I know. Cheers!
  9. No denial/no interview....yet.
