  1. you will be fine, i personally do not take any psych meds, but i am in nursing class now with 2 ladys, one is on paxil and the other is on lexapro. both are doing fine. in fact one made the comment that she understands what some psych patients are feeling. hang in there you will be a great nurse.
  2. gr8nurse, You are so right, I purchased the book I have now when I was in my second semester and having a lot of trouble with care plans. But now I find myself using it very little, more as a reference when I get stuck. I will also use it to make sure I have a comprehensive nursing diagnosis list to turn in for my patient diagnosis. We have to write a care plan for our top three problems. And, yes instructors are a very good resource. I could not begin to count the times I have shown them my problem list and have them say "Have you thought about this..." and the light bulb goes off in my head.
  3. my first response was c, then you said your professor said that was incorrect because they were being monitored. my next answer would be d, going back to maslow, saftey if first, the glasses and hearing aids are comfort items (security to the patient), toileting is still not a saftey issue unless you read into the question that he has a problem. Please let us know what is the correct answer.
  4. I don't work in an ER, but i do work at an in patient behavioral health facility, and we see people coming in who just want pain medication. the most common is lortab, but usually they would take any narcotic if the doctor would perscribe it. I have noticed that if they have say the have pain then they will be given something for pain, just not always what they request. Later
  5. hang in there, I am 34 and have been out of school for a while also. I started back to nursing school a while back and will be finishing my ADN next may. It is never to late to start a new carreer. good luck, you can do it.
  6. I am an ADN student who will finish school next may. Where are the clinical instructors? If one of my class mates or myself did not know the answers to some of the simple questions she can not answer we would get a "not met" for that clinical. after about 3 or four of these we would be unsatisfactory, which means you don't pass that clinical, thus you don't pass that class. And yes I had a question similar to those in clinical, except mine was about a bata-blocker, and yes I got a not met. That was the last time I went to clinical unprepared.
