  1. Hopefully they'll still let us know 6-8 weeks before FB. I'm from Dallas, applied for CNM.
  2. I got an email confirmation that they received my documents
  3. Ok, that's what I was thinking. Which program are you applying for?
  4. How did y'all format your essays? I have mine in APA formatting but I'm not sure whether to do a title page or to put it at the beginning. How long was your time management essay? Thanks!
  5. Have you witnessed a conflict resolution type situation that you could say you learned from? Or think of times you made a mistake and what you did to fix it? I'm assuming the position is for something in Pediatrics so be prepared for "why you want to go into pediatrics?" and also "why nursing?". They might ask your strengths and weaknesses (*your inexperience is your biggest weakness), for you to tell them about yourself, and why should they choose you. Also, think about why you want to work for that hospital and that unit. As far as goals, are you planning on continuing your education eventually? What certifications could you get in this area? Ask what THEY are looking for in an employee/RN, what the biggest challenges are for their new grads, what will the training be like, what challenges are present for even experienced nurses, what are THEY'RE goals for the unit within the next 5-10 years, what is their retention rate... These are things I thought about and planned for for my interview (said my answers out loud until it felt natural). I also brought my resume and letters of rec in a nice plastic book report cover and sent a thank you note after my interview...and I am currently training for my dream job :)
  6. I've had fellow students make comments to me throughout nursing school that have made me question myself at times. And I have struggled with a class (barely passed), but I knew how badly I wanted this and kept working. Now, there's only 3 exams left between me and walking across that stage so DON'T give up. You have to make sacrifices and prioritize and decide how badly you want this. You don't have to make all A's to be a good nurse, I know students who have really high GPA's but aren't good with patients at all. Do practice questions, study a ton, focus on what's important, but also take care of yourself by getting sleep, working out, and eating healthy. You can do this.
  7. I applied as well and haven't heard anything but the "inactive" just means the application is closed. Hopefully we hear something soon!
  8. I had a preceptorship and have been at Plano the past two semesters, their nurse managers are extremely busy so give them some time! And good luck! There's some really great nurses and doctors there!
  9. I came across this post and from someone who is on their way out from TWU, I just want to say congratulations! Relish in this excitement and ENJOY your free time while you have it! It's going to be a very crazy 2 years but lean on your peers and utilize your resources! Definitely get a UNITE mentor, too. I wish you all the best!
