  1. Ok, I know this school has been beat like a dead horse on here with questions regarding cost, program length, etc. But I could not find anything on the issue I'm having. One of the admission requirements says that you can not be working as a nurse or plan to work in a handful of select states. The states listed are WV, TN, GA, ND,NC, and LA. Does anyone have any idea of why that is? I didn't think state BONs have any authority over where you get your BSN if you're already a RN. BSU'S website doesn't say that you can't live in said states. I live in TN, but work in KY. It seems like a great program do I'm hoping to hear back from them soon. Thanks for any helpful insight.
  2. Oh, by the way Medic85907, I cannot send private messages yet. Shoot me your email.
  3. Well, here's another update! I am finished with all of the exams as of today. I got an A on Lifespan 2. I must say that LS3 is definitely more challenging. Hopefully my grade processes in time through Excelsior so I can get into the FCCA that starts next week. I made it my goal to finish the exams by the end of the year. Talk about the last minute! Happy New Years Yall!
  4. That's good to know about 2. Yeah I will pm you later today when I can get on desktop version. I've either been working, studying, or sleeping.
  5. In Georgia, it is a corrupt process. Basically you are given a temporary RN license and you have to complete 480 +/- hours of "preceptorship" within a 6 month time frame. The key here is that the only hospital that you can do that with is located in the same city as the GA BON, Macon. They also charge you a fee to attend the preceptor hours on THEIR schedule. All of this must be accomplished within a 6 month time frame. Oh! By the way, the fee is well over $1K. I actually talked to a close friendly friend who is an attorney with the Department of Transportation and he told me he would represent me in filing suit against the BON based on discrimination being that I am a male trying to become a Nurse and the fact that I am 1/2 Cherokee. He said that they don't have the money to fight it in court and that they would "roll over" and give me a license most likely rather than dealing with the headache of a discrimination lawsuit. But, I don't even want to give Georgia the pleasure of knowing they gave me a hard time. As soon as I finish (1 more test then FCCA and CPNE), my wife and I are heading north! Trying to decide between Tennessee or North Carolina right now. Asheville and Knoxville are both great cities to live in and have ample opportunities for a new nurse with 7 years of paramedic and flight medic experience. Goodbye to the blue-haired, narrow minded, corrupt folks in the Georgia BON!!! I will not miss you! Sorry for venting, but this anger has been festering for a while now.
  6. Update: I passed LS1 with an A and LS3 with a B. LS1 was ridiculously easy to me. I felt comfortable with the material for LS3, but all of the "select all that apply" questions just freak me out and cause me to triple guess myself. LOL. On to LS2, the psych, metabolic, and endocrinology test. I am studying like crazy on all of the psych meds right now. Wish me luck!
  7. I have heard mixed reviews on LS2 and LS3. Some say 3 is the hardest. Most say 2 is the hardest. I'm thinking 3 might be easier for me because it has a large section dedicated to trauma. LS2 is focused on psych with a little endocrinology. I'm sure there will be many subjective/opinionated rationales for the psych questions. That is what I am most worried about.
  8. Thanks for the help guys. I am starting to feel a little more confident about LS1. I took the practice exams and made pretty good grades (72 and then 84). Luckily I think a lot of information is still fresh from last year when I took the FP-C exam (basically the same as the CFRN, CCRN exam. I can honestly say that was the most difficult test I have ever taken in my entire life. It made National Registry seem like a cakewalk. By the way, if any of you are planning on taking CCRN, CFRN, or CEN, I have some absolutely amazing material for those tests. Anyways, thanks for the encouragement guys!
  9. I searched the threads and most of the relevant topics similar to mine are fairly old. The only exams I have left are LS1, LS2, and LS3. I made an A in Foundations in Nursing Practice, B's in Health Safety, Transitions, and Health Differences. I made a C in Reproductive Health, but I was absolutely blown away when I took that test. I had heard that it was one of the easier ones. I must say that the practice exams were basically worthless for that one. It had to have been luck that I did not make a D on that one. Anyways, any other paramedics out there feel that they felt very prepared for LS1? I'm not sure if I want to tackle LS2 and LS3 next and save LS1 for last if it is easier. But at the same time, I want a confidence boost after the Repro exam. I actually read the textbooks. I uses SG101 and practice exams. But I am thinking about not buying the practice exams for LS1 if it is fairly simple for experienced Paramedics (5 years pre-hospital, 2 years flight). Any other resources you guys recommend as a supplement for LS2? Thanks for the help guys.
  10. That's good to know. That will most likely be the path I take.
  11. Hey there! New member on here, but I have been a long time creeper on these forums. I am in the final phases of the EC ASN program. All of my GE courses are finished and I have already passed Transition to RN and Health Safety. I have been a paramedic here in Georgia for 7 years and I have worked at a hospital where medics get to practice full scope in a RN/Medic team. I Look forward to sharing information with any fellow students. Quick question though for anybody in the know-how in Georgia. I am very aware of the Ga BON situation with EC. I live in northern Georgia, so NC and TN are less than a 1 hour drive for me. I plan to take boards for Tennessee. Being that GA did not accept any EC grads in 2009, then changed to requiring precepted hours in 2011, has anyone heard any talk of the GA BON making any changes again? I am not fond of the preceptorship program because I have heard that only one hospital in Macon is offering it and there may be large fees and waiting lists. Good luck everyone!
