I would take that mainly as a bad sign because another girl was told the same thing for a position and she basically didn't get the job because of the budget review that's currently going on because a lot of floors overhired. They are still jobs available but not that many. This happened to me. It was very long and frustrating. The only do that because most of this floors won't hire unless you've passed your NCLEX or if you have some connections with NYU. After you passed they will tell you what's available but Cathy tends to tell people to email her back in 2-3 weeks but honestly, they're openings and jobs that are available that can come and go during that time period and by the time you email back there are no positions available it's super frustrating.

Orientation depends on your unit so I'm not sure. They have books through NYU so you don't need to do that.

I did. It's been boring tbh. It's a lot of talking and stuff. They don't commuincate 100% about everything that you need to do. There's a lot of modules online that you need to complete too. We don't really get out at 5PM, it's more like 2-4PM it depends really. We had one tests for EKG and everyone passed but honestly it was a little bit more diffcult than we expected lol you need 80 to passed (11 wrong out of 55).

There's really nothing. As long as you have the basic requirements! They did make sure that I graduated with a 3.5 so I think it may depend on your recruiter if you have lower than that but you don't so you're okay. I think you just have to be very consistent. Check weekly even twice a week. Monday and Thursdays if you can because positions come and go quickly. With the new hires from Jan to April they may not be taking as many people as they were before tbh. But keep trying and stay consistent with your recruiter.

I'm a new gradute so I have 0 experiance. But I worked a PCT/CNA on a med-surg tele unit for one year; it was upstate hospital in New York. Do you have any experiance?

2 days! It wa fast. But after my NCLEX it took 1.5mon to get a job but most of my friends are still waiting :/

My internship on a CVICU Unit, preceptorship on a CV stepdown unit, and my job on a med-surg unit! I think this helped me. I have a 3.7 GPA (not sure if nurse managers care about this but you never know). That may help you! EMT or other types of experiance will help you if it's ER!

Yes! I was. I'm on a cardiac floor. Yeah! I saw both of those. If you have good experience that should help you with your intverview with a nurse manager rather than HR. Cause if you have experience for that unit they'll probably hire you! HR is much easier to please in my opinion but the problem is getting a spot. As soon as they email you stay in touch with them'

I got hired and I never went to NYU. I do think they hire mainly NYU grads though but that's just from what I've seen. You don't have to be a NYU grad to get hired :) Just really be consistent with HR because I do think that if you're not you'll lose a spot.

This is pretty standard when it comes to NYU. We all go to HR - they tell us the benefits and when orientation will start. Then you meet with nurse manager or a group panel. Usually they tell you when you'd hear back from them &/or they'd give you their card. I would send a thank you email afterward, and wait for her to answer. I was told literally the next day for my first interview, and I didn't get the job, and the same day for my second interview, when I got the job. It depends on the nurse manager and when she tells HR but after I think around 6P their office is closed (?) But yeah it's pretty much a waiting game. I got a call from HR about the job offer first then I got an email but some people get an email only. I guess it all depends on who your recruiter is

Same thing happened to me! When I graduted in Decemeber I didnt get the email to sign up for NCLEX until Jan 9th. Then you need at least 3 weeks to study for it. All together it could take 1-2 months just to take your NCLEx and if you pass on the first try then you have to wait for avaiablitly that's why they dont tell you the date for an interview

I 100% disagree... NYU hired a bunch of new grads.. and Mount sinai ..etc. You can find a job here without experiance. I have. The start pay is even up in the 90's for new grads. There's opportunity here you just have to be persistent

The process was super long. I was in touch with her since September, then phone interview in Nov.. then they called me for opening for a cardiac unit but i needed my license..then i got my license in feb.. then all of march they had nothing..then i finally scored two interviews last week for two seperate units and got one. I havent started! but some start tomorrow i start next month on the 14th

After I passed. They were willing to interview me before I passed my NCLEX and while I was still in school but the interview events never happened. It was to the point where they stopped having them and just told people to come in for the math test + HR interview and then go meet with a NM right after or a week or two after. It's been a waiting game for a lot of the new graduates who graduated this December because a lot of people took their nclex in late jan - late feb. A lot of the positions were closed and the ones that were opened weren't really told to everyone cause when I had my interview some people were being interviewed for different units that I was told were full. Maybe they had their own reason as to why they got it but I just thought it was weird. I just got lucky with a few others who were able to get interviews and positions because a couple of other people that I know that weren't told of even a position being opened to interview. And the only reason why I got lucky is because I had different recruiter than originally I think. You just apply to another opened "staff nurse" application. But it doesn't matter if it's residency or not because all nurses go into their residency program if they have 0 experience or less than 6 months I believe. If she gave you her email, then contact her in a week and ask about any new information about the status of your resume when it comes to the availability of the units that are opened. She may say wait 2-3 weeks or at the end of May because I was told about 3 people that they asked the main recruiter this and she said that the spots were limited and there probably won't be another opening until the middle/end of may or June. June (23rd) is when the new building should be done and everyone (mainly new grads) will be transferred there. They may notice that they need more graduates on the floors around then.. (idk)? So that's why I think she told my friend middle/end of May so you're able to start by the June start date. This is just what I've gathered by other people it may not be 100% correct

Keep in mind that some floors may wait until you have your license cause that happened to me and two other girls that I know who were called by a NM for a position. They all wanted that so you may have to wait until afterward. I got a call in dec 15th but my NCLEX was for feb 22 so they told me to wait. Then I got the job on April 12th but my other friends haven't heard anything. Hopefully more positions open and you here back ASAP :)

Not sure. Everyone has a different process. I was told that as well and that they would have a nurse manager interview panel but it never hapepnd because of the other recent gradutes who were waiting for a position to open up. I would keep in touch with her through email. you may get lucky if they have any openings but i heard the icu's were closed from another girl that was in the HR's office with me. They may open again in a few months (June?) though but i'm not sure. NYU's wait process is a long time for most people so just keep that in mind. I have heard some people whos process was much faster than mine but normally they send out emails they will respond to them and if theyre interested HR will call you for an interview and for you to do a math test! but if you did your externship there you may have some leway over other people :)

This is crazy. NYU's nurse residency isnt like this at all infact you start off making closs to 6 figures. i cant believe this

I was hired and I am not a NYU grad. Most applicants are probbaly NYU students because they went to school there and did their clinicals there. All you need is a 3.5 GPA. Once you get the call just show your passion for NYU and be good at interviewing. Once you actually come in for the in person interview: pass the math test with 100% and you're set. The rest is on you and how you do during your nurse manager interview.
