Goodmorning everyone! Just want you to know that the deposit amount is now available and it is specific for : "School of Nursing Deposit :Fall 2015 - Enrollment deposit for the following programs: Masters Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN)" for someone that had asked on whether it was admission into the MEPN program, I think that should answer your question!

coopchinchilla To answer your questions .. in previous years the admitted students have found out the same way, through the portal! :) that's technically what it's for, they gave us access to it to see the process/decisions on our application to the graduate school. Have you checked yours? Before it only had an "Applicant" and "announcements" tab under Admissions. Now it has the Admitted tab with a congratulatory message and a statement about the deposit, although the amount is still not available. We will still be receiving an official letter within a week, depending on our locations! :) And in the letter we should hear about the deposit

On the portal, when you click to the Application Menu, it says "Admission decisions are not delivered through the portal rather you will be notified by mail." .. so that means even more waiting probably! haha Trying to be patient :)

Applying to UCLA MECN to start Fall 2015?
Good morning everyone!! I woke up to an email directing me to the appstatus webpage. And.. I found my rejection letter! lol I am a bit surprised, because I considered myself very qualified, and prepared for the rigor since I am currently a UCLA student. But also, UCLA's program didn't pull at my heart. and God knows what is best for me! I am excited to find out what His plans are for me. I wish you all the very best, I will pray for all of you future nurses! Be the very best you can :)

USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego)
Thanks @FJD13 that calms me down a bit. I don't usually prepare for interviews but this interview is probably the most important in my life. And I want to make sure I have all my qualities and goals in mind. I don't always think of those things and so it makes it somewhat difficult to verbalize it all.

I havent had time to really prepare for the interview because of my classes this quarter. But its on my mind every day. So so busy with school! Cant wait for this midterm week to be over so that I can dedicate some time to prepare. the day is getting closer! Praying to God that His will, not mine, be done.

Advice for (likely) rejected by all CSUs?
If nursing is truly your passion, do whatever you can not just to become a stronger applicant, but to really get to know first-hand what it takes to be a nurse. I highly recommend doing hospital volunteering or internship, but it'd probably be better for you to maybe complete a CNA program. Volunteering, interning, and especially being a nurse (like a CNA) really give you the opportunity to learn and understand more about the nursing career, the demands, the qualities you should have, the profession. Through such programs you'd be able to connect with nurses or staff and there would be your recommendation letters! Any other type of involvement should also be a good source of LORs.

part time work to prepare for accelerated BSN
it sounds like you are a strong applicant already, trust in yourself :) I'd like to add that it is also important that schools see consistency in your involvement. So it's better to stick to the volunteering/experience you are currently gaining, and really commit to it long-term, than to do a lot of different things just to embellish your resume. I hope that makes sense. It's not to say that you shouldn't do any of the proposed options, but you can find a way around them. Really focus on getting good grades in your classes, and ask yourself if your clinical experience thus far has convinced you 200 % that nursing is your life purpose. BEst of luck!

Starting To Loose Hope
Hi KatelynMarie , sorry to hear your stress. But don't worry! If this is your passion, it will come to be, in God's time. I am more than willing to help you in any way I can. Send me your email via message and let me know! :)

why do nurses discourage nursing students?
I agree with you, I want to take it upon myself to encourage others to follow their dreams, especially if that means nursing. I have been interning in a hospital, alongside registered nurses, and I have encountered some nurses that literally crush my dream. Since I am pursuing a Master's in Nursing (for non-nurses), they often tell me "why are you going for a masters just for nursing? makes no sense. might as well become a doctor. all you need for nursing is an associates degree. Why are you getting a master's." And they really discourage me, one time a nurse actually made me cry. But, I get it. Most of these nurses have been nurses for many, many years. And back then, all you needed WAS an associates. But it's not the same anymore. More education is better, all the more empowering.
