If your status still says "in review" you may have ended up submitting your application too late and they have filled the seats. You most likely will get bumped to next term. You can call and find out if they have already filled all the seats or if they are still reviewing. I doubt they are there this week since it's spring break. Good luck!

Thx for your encouragement ah913. I plan to knock it out of the park this time! and everyone listen to ah about the portfolio like I said every campus is different. After I handed in my stuff I went home and got a binder and organized all my stuff and took it with me first day of clinical just to be safe. So be prepared!!!!! Don't worry about GIGU ah I'm sure you'll do great remember to stick with the study technique that works for you! and Jutana I know your nervous we were all there not to long ago just remember to always go prepared to class, i always got my bookbag ready the night before and double checked the syllabus and d2l to make sure I took everything I was supposed to take. For d2l look at the announcement part for each class NOT just the emails. The professors post stuff everywhere to make sure you're paying attention!

Thanks Acitrone2011 for all your positive thoughts and encouragement!!!! You need to stay positive for this program. Don't let things get you too down and plz stay far far away from the negative people!!!! I honestly felt so down when I failed that first exam I let it consume me which was a bit mistake. You gotta learn to bounce back from those type of things and keep pushing forward. There's nothing you can't overcome as long as you put your all into it!!!

Well I found that making flashcards for pharmacology helped me with the exams also our professor gave us a "blueprint" which was an outline of some of the material that was gonna be on the test. I found that when i made flashcards and did the blueprint I did better. I made flashcards for clinicals of the skills. Then would review them and found that helped me alot during return demos. (I passed both on the first try) However I found the flashcards didn't help me with lecture. I ended up making my own version of a blueprint based on my lecture notes, the power points and comparing the info to the book. That's what I did for my last 2 exams, which technically I passed but because I didn't do well on the first exam I still ended up not passing the course by one point it sucks but hey it's done. I'm gonna keep making my blueprints for studying cause it worked for me and helped me focus more because like someone on here said earlier the book is very repetitive and you feel overwhelmed trying to read it all. Also I highly recommend getting fundamentals success book which is filled with questions to help you in answering critical thinking questions. I have one but did not utilize it as much in process 2 as I did in process 1 which ended up hurting me. So lesson learned. Stick with what works for you. It may take a few different techniques to try before you find one that works but once you find it stick to it!!!! well good luck everyone! If u have any other questions feel free to ask! :)

Hey Acitrone2011!!!! How are ya! Well everything's going ok. I just got back from a small getaway to the Bahamas! (Needed that after this grueling summer) unfortunantley I am retracking process 2 lecture . But really it's ok. It's my own fault cause I didn't study much for the first exam cause we had our return demos the next day. I was so nervous about that I neglected lecture then had to play catch up on the next 2 exams then missed it by 1 point so....lesson to everyone plz plz plz make sure u study hard and score well on the first couple exams so u don't have to play catch up!!! Congrats to all the others that have made it through to GIGU I'll be there soon!!!

Hi Jutana. I don't know about the other campuses but at south they don't check it until the first day of clinicals for process 2. Not process 1 cause they already have all your stuff cause you just handed it in before the program
-
Broward College Nursing May 2015
Yes for south you have to buy it from the bookstore (which is the only place you can get it anyway) your not going to use it till process 2 HOWEVER they are going to check fo the receipt in process 1 so make a copy and take original cause they take the copy to put in your chart. It's full of all types of stuff. IV bags & lines and kits stuff like that. You'll be needing it to practice your skills at home for sure!!!

Hey stephym12! Yeah you won't find a lot of south campus people on her unfortunately, but I like it. I can't really name any professors on here but the ones I've had so far in process 1 & 2 are nice. They are very different in ways of teaching but you get use to how they work. Don't be intimidated by other people saying "oh you got that professor, man good luck" That is a completely absurd thing to say. When it comes down to it they all have the same rules and treat everyone the same. They may push a little harder on some once in a while but unlike what other people comment about them "Weeding people out" that's bologna! I feel that they push us because they see potential and want people to step up and give it their all! SO all I can say is study, study, study! Know the material! Remember the Nurse is not just suppose to be able to complete a task but also needs to know WHY they are doing it!!!Knowledge!! Good luck in August! Maybe we'll see each other on campus!

Hi iHeartKey so far for process 1 the 3 hospitals were memorial regional, south and memorial manor. Process 2 same except no manor and I believe memorial west is included. Basically they do all the memorial hospitals.

Broward College Nursing May 2015
Hey Acitrone2011! Long time! You'll definitely need those 2 books and also the Jarvis physical examination pocket book not the big one. That's to help u with physical assessments for return demos. Good luck in August!

Hey Alice not too sure exactly which section is next but I know process 2 is dealing with pain management, lab drawing and fluids and electrolytes. Which our professor told us one of the most toughest exams in process 2 is the fluid electrolyte one. I guess u can start with those to get ahead start. Atleast until the professor emails the syllabus. Hope everyone is doing alright so far! Taking our 3rd exam for process 1 tomm morning! time to get some rest so I can be ready
-
Broward College Nursing May 2015
Hello everyone! Long time! Was reading through the thread. Yes the reason you don't see us in here much is because we are busy studying and practicing! It's no joke starting in the summer but it's definitely doable. I go to south and yes they are strict but honestly they need to be strict it helps to structure good nurses! Practically everyone in my class is still there. Working hard and practicing. Those who have left honestly to me are people who just can't follow simple directions or don't like to be told what to do. Like your hair needs to be up and off the collar, i didn't realize that was such a hard things to do. Or bringing the proper supplies with you to class. This isn't high school it's college! Hey guess what! When u get a job as a nurse your gonna be told what to do and given directions. If you get scared off by a few professor's your definitely not gonna cut it. Some people try and say "oh I think they enjoy failing us" or "they want us to fail" its not true. You just need to realize that in order for you to learn the material and absorb the knowledge you need to work hard and study!!! They're not just going to give u the answers. Yes it will take a lot of your time you will still have time for yourself once in a while. Not alot! I'm talking like an hour or so then back to studying. There's people I know who are working and doing fine. Again that's their preference or because they need to. It's up to you to manage your time. Do what I suggested those of u serious about starting. Get the perry potter fundamentals AND skills book start reading and practicing vital signs, health assessment and patient safety! Get ahead so u don't feel overwhelmed. You'll need those 2 books for lecture and clinical. Yhe program is hard and demanding if you can't put 110% into it your gonna get frustrated and want to quit. If you don't like being told what to do or can't follow simple instructions then this program ain't for you. Honestly I think everyone here can do that! Good luck in whatever decision you make. I'm off to study some more!

Oh and GG_Alice you had me at snacks! Wish I was going to central! Lol!! Everyone trust me when I say get to know your classmates! Personally I'm a loner when it comes to studying BUT for clinical practice you will need your classmates not to mention we all help each other out! All of you going to central Alice has the right idea! Bonus! She brings snacks!!! happy studying!

Omg! First week over! It's alot of info!!! Those of you starting next term make sure u brush up on math problems (conversions/proportions) and brush up on clinical skills like vital signs, sterilization, physical assessment etc. Read those chapters in the book. Speaking of books definitely need perry potter fundamentals AND skills book!!! Read the chapters pertaining to what I mentioned above! Get a head start cause you will feel overwhelmed! Other books I suggest are the Jarvis pocket book and drug guide. If you're not familiar with medical terms and definitions get the tabers cyclopedia (dictionary) it's all in the booklist those are the main ones we are using right now. Learn 'em live 'em love 'em!!! This is for south campus but I think all of us are pretty much learning all these same basic stuff. Well back to studying!!!! Good luck everyone!

And like ambitiousQ said the transcript process is with registration office. U want to make sure they are submitted to them and evaluated because it can hold up your application being reviewed.
-
Broward College Nursing May 2015
U can just print it out and fill it out before u go. All u have to do is turn in application. It would be good if u have done the hesi already and attach the results. That way you turn in everything all together and it won't hold up the review process.
