Sports Physicals
I chose to be involved in doing the physicals. I just to be a very good athlete in my younger years (I know, you can't tell any more). I practiced combat sports since my early teens and until 2-3 years ago, and experienced every injury imaginable. I am 49 now. So yes, I have great rapport with a number of local coaches, student athletes and their families. Communicating with them with plenty of time in the Spring and prior to school start is key. Lots of information is also another relevant point. It is a process I enjoy and not complicated at all for us. We see nearly 200 student athletes every year.

Have you met your husband at nursing? Is nursing a good career to meet men?
I met my wife while working at a SNF in AZ. I was extremely impressed with how hard that girl worked the floor and how kind she was to her patients. No play, no games, no flirts. Solid care but also very courteous. I thought she would make a great mom and an awesome life long companion. She has over delivered for 15 years. My guess, it would depend on the caliber of people you work with. I've see plenty of flakes as well. Buyer beware.

Concealed Carry for Caregivers
True. Other than Syria and Iraq (until 3 years ago) Christians were invisible in most Muslim countries. Now they are a de facto target for the Islamists. Just the facts.

Concealed Carry for Caregivers
I am sorry but you have not spend any time studying the Kur'an but rather are repeating the propaganda you hear in the media. The fact is the Islamic societies are the most controlling, repressive, and violent societies on earth. Women and homosexuals bear the brunt of it but so it is with anyone that dares to have a divergent opinion on anything that relates to social, political or religious norms (one of the same in Islam, by the way). In case you don't have access to real news, it is the IS that has killed thousands of Christians, sold into slavery as many and destroyed ancient Christian-founded cities that have existed for a millennium, just in a few short months. Why is it that "fellow Muslims" in the Middle East are not being advocates, love of one's neighbor, caring for others, including the poor, and peace" for the armies of "refuges" flooding into Western Europe? I speak 4 languages, have been to 28 countries and I have studied ME culture and religion in detail. The brand of Islam of the US based Muslims is a tame, quasi-apostate brand of religion. That is why when they "go home" on vacation they come back "radicalized" aka they get back in touch with the REAL Islam and see the "flawed and error of their ways as they have become seduced by the western devilish, decadent culture" (I'm quoting Farrakhan there.

Concealed Carry for Caregivers
Being able to defend yourself is ALWAYS a better option than waiting for a terrorist to just kill you. So yes, by all means, get your CCW and we'll continue to pray that it will not happen again but we all know it may indeed happen again. I have carried for 5 years now without incident. I am ex-military so I do know how to use a firearm under duress. But everyone can practice and attain a level of proficiency that will make a difference if you find yourself in a situation such as the one recently in CA.

Reimbursement for Psych NP independent contractor in private practice (Seattle area)
I am not sure about the market in WA for PMHNP. Based on national averages, the "billing" seems excessive for a NP. Most solo practitioners bill around $150K/year and, that has absolutely nothing to do with the reimbursement rate which could be 65-70% of that, depending on the network contracts. If on top of that you have to share 30% + rent, I'm not sure it is a deal any longer. You should consider researching that very carefully before you agree. The credentialing is not a big issue just a matter of time consuming paperwork. Psych NP's are in high demand so you could get a job anywhere, basically. I can have your student loans paid off (if you have any), if you come work for us!!! How about that?

Creighton accelerated nursing program
HI there! I am a complete transplant from CA and I am never going back, with Heaven's help. I just love it here in NE. I am wrapping up my NP preceptorship in Central NE but had some clinical hours at a surgical center in Omaha. I agree that the north-east part of the city resemble the South Bay or south east sections of LA, when it comes to crime and the potential for violence on the streets. The rest of Omaha and across the river in IA offer very affordable housing opportunities. Good luck!

Foreign trained MD
In order to become a PA in the US you MUST be a graduate of a PA program in the US. A NP, in the other hand, has significantly more freedom and latitude in practice. All I need is a collaborating physician statement but no supervision or joint liability. I have a date for NCLEX already. I'm not concerned about that one. Thank you for your feedback.

Foreign trained MD
I guess I neglected to mention that I have RN certification earned concurrent on my 2nd-3rd year of medical school. FL already validated my credentials. I also took some course work as per the requirements (phamacology, adv. primary care). Just wondering on the subject the two different credential bodies. I can take NCLEX-RN at any time. I am rather exploring today the question of NP testing and designation Thank you for your feedback

Foreign trained MD
I am a Cuban trained physician. I have 10 years of experience as a Psychiatrist. I am trying to navigate the complicated bureaucracy in the US. Seems that the most likely option is becoming a NP. I am preparing for the exam. Have not decided which one to take (AANP vs. ANCC). I was also wondering, can I utilize the MD designation as well in my business cards? Any feedback on the subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Malcolm
