anyone have a board complaint
I have found that boards are very disorganized, have even lost cases. That is crazy 2 separate orders to follow. So many things wrong with how they do things . I am glad this was worked out and you have your license , it took a long time and this in itself is very stressful. So glad you took them to court . They should have to pay for your lawyer costs . This makes people not want to ever be in nursing. And now I see that those who are trying to get off additions are reverting back due to what is going on with covid. No one should ever work at the board cause the are 'friends' with others there. One in AZ , gets the faxes of compliance, and shreds them laughing away , while telling the nurse "didn't get it send again" , and brags about doing this many times over and over. shameful !

anyone have a board complaint
a lot of complaints that go to the BON are from vicious family, neighbors , ex spouses . A real BON would recognize that they are retaliating and not take action . That is not the case with AZBON, they will jump on it. File against the nurse. Usually the nurse is a victim of DV and getting away from an abusive spouse and they want the kids. or get even . So the nurse is getting a double wammy. If you did nothing wrong stick to your guns your taking nothing . Be VERY careful signing anything , to 'get past this' it could lead to bigger problems and your atty may tell you to sign so you don't lose your license, so he can be paid. It is what you can live with . (by signing in AZ you give up the right to go after them for damages, letting them off the hook ) . Why should any nurse do this? Good luck to you.

anyone have a board complaint
if someone puts in a board complaint , ex who ever and it 'sticks " which the corrupt boards do make it 'stick" (at least in arizona) then you can't sue them. Because it shows that it was substantial . Before anyone goes to nursing school figure out how the boards can ruin your entire life by one false complaint . Not just in nursing but in other areas as well.

board atty's are not always the best. they tend to make a bigger case out of nothing , to make more money. And they have 'side talks " always wanting a plea , deal when you have done nothing wrong. This case is very COMMON with BON's , they know retaliation but don't care they'll make a nursing case out of a private feud , and someone not a nurse trying to destroy a good nurse ! harassment by your BON (az BON is the worst ) .

I think you should be OK , the one thing they (azbon) loves to hit people on is the past , and doesn't matter how long ago, and if you disclose it. to them a biggee. They make a big deal out of that but then it never matters in the final decision . I would not meet with them , u don't have to just put it down , short answers , and deny to meet with them, they will put it on the BON meeting , at that point you can go , make short statement just for the back of the room because the board doesn't listen to anything you say they have made up their minds long before u get there. you should be fine. another area they love is when a NP is in one area and does things in areas not certified in . Although a FNP (ON THE BD) said she can diagnose psych disorders .

That is true , depends on the action , loc , doc , not a real big deal but this is another area boards play favortism, they give their 'buddies' a 'fine" which is non punitive. by buddies, they all attend the same faith .

TheOwalrus. Most likely you will get licensed , but I have seen az deny nurses a license based on something very old , been working a long time. Now that bad part of that is AZ denial is PUNITIVE (they do not allow u to just withdraw application) Surrendering a license when you get sick of jumping through the many many hoops, is PUNITIVE for AZ , not all states are about 5% is all. So many nurses have never worked 1 day in AZ and cannot find work in many area due to the ding on their license. I don't know of any board who would give info over the phone since, the bd has to vote. Now when a nurse / NP gets investigated , gets revoked or what ever on license and they move away those boards where they move will NOT issue a license but refer you back to AZ , every time. (a lot of people think nurses can just skip around and work, NO WAY) and the worst cases had nothing to do with nursing (calif is tough too but they just got caught falsifying documents themselves so , hmmmm !!

That is correct, and for that reason I have seen RN's who actually do patient harm get dismiss, letter of concern , or DOC so they can get their NP . When the board is not suppose to be looking at future goals to render decisions. In your case , the matter is stale, you are not the same person you were 20 years ago and they cannot find a pattern . Unfortunately some boards will nail a person . (I do not think they will you because of your continued schooling, and reasons above ) . I would not apply or ever work AZ. One person who had a situation like yours 20 +++ yrs ago, was denied license. Because of that, her denial is all over the internet (that is how they do it in some 'shame you" states) So because of that information easily found , she has been unable to secure any jobs without obtaining a 2nd degree in something else. So she never worked a day in AZ but because she applied it ruined her life. And after 10 yrs still refuse to take it off .

WOW!, scary stuff I know. In some states if you have a ding on your license they will not give you the NP. I was told once they get paid for each discipline not sure but seems that way. And why isn't this 'stale" , or SOL up after 20 years , WOW! ! can't really say they are protecting the public ! Sorry this happened, we do know the sleepless nites ! Maybe when you get your psych DNP you can analyze why they do this, I could never put someone through something like this over nothing . take care ! CONGRATS on BSN and DNP

Katie M , that is a really good response . TAANA, is good, but you must either pay for atty or do it yourself. one thing is the boards are corrupt, and will make sure you get fired, and out of work asap, that will stop you. Unless you get creative , and have a paralegal cert, keep fighting them in court but you cannot pay an atty. malpractice will pay 25k for RN for license protection, more for NP , just do not tell your atty or anyone you have it . No one can find out. A lot of the post , is like you are working , believe me the most corrupt boards will make phone calls, to places you work or worked on their intake questionaire. My advise do not fill that part out put n/a , they are looking for dirt . If there is a pattern it will show up . There is no pattern, they go on a witch hunt. You will not believe the extent or the taxpayers money they will spend to dirty your name, spread lies in their magazines, and put every board meeting on the web. They are willing to take anyone who will lie against you as a witness. the OAH admin court is rigged the judges are rubber stampers for the state . A lot of laws need to be changed ! best to all dealing with these nasty nursing boards. ! NCSBN is behind all of this, if you watch their meetings if anyone of them wants to see the nurses side, they are silenced immediately .

thank you for sharing . I have found with other similarly situated it is never in the past. One NP who was railroaded as well by az BON, years later called me up when she signed up for soc security , they started taking out her student loan out of that , when she was already living on a tight budget . She said I tried moving on and it just keeps following me . So sad to see all of the lives ruined, and mgt plotting against nurses like yourself , and using every trick in the book. That is why they don't want you talking, so others won't warn you. Seems like in every case they turn the tables on the nurse. I hope you do write a book , put your story on line and inform everyone, you live in a free country and the BON cannot take your freedom of speech. Or your soul . Take care thanks for sharing and caring.

All you can do is gather others to help, find someone to sponsor a bill that will curb their power. Seems like state agencies all stick together . Put up a fb or web page and have others come on and discuss this horrible situation. No way would anonymous complaint fly in a criminal case. No way would someone surrendering their license , say take it , would end up with punitive charges on them . (about 10 states az is one) . When a strong union of nurses gather to fight this , only then will it stop . Beware of "board " atty's they want you to sign an agreement, anything, just so you keep working to pay them. look up and connect with nurses who have won. Promote that atty. Report the board to agencies and get the public involved . Keep records. This is a horrific area, of unduly punitive over powering boards going full force on a nurse in most cases did nothing wrong . Where is the court appointed atty ? Criminals get better treatment than nurses. Inform others . lots of posts .azstateboardofnursingwatchdogs. It is horrible and demeaning to nurses everywhere . I would say run anyone thinking about this 'career" . They do not take cops certifications away, maybe get fired but seldom take certification , but nurses probation , revoke all the time !

that is a lot of damages, I know it is expensive , but I'd file against them . Many in this position are so sickened by the injustice of those who are suppose to protect the public and be fair and impartial are not, they never want to be a nurse again. And what is worse is they place a label on you for no reason, just to mess with you. I hope that you come out ahead and inform others what can happen. worse than the criminal system. I can believe anything about what goes on with these government agencies.- anyone have a board complaint
As far as getting another job, well it pretty much destroys any chance of that . once you are reported to the data bank , you cannot work anywhere medicare money is involved. not even in the kitchen.- anyone have a board complaint
So sad that nurses are the ones that are here to kick someone where they are down, "she deserved to lose her license " . How rude and insensitive, but that is her opinion , and she has a right to air this. This happens with criminals too people post things , like "I hope he gets life" Wait a minute , is this an assumption of guilt ,by reading , a reporters biased comments , sometimes only reading the headlines. Why should I waste me time , trying to educate those who have been railroaded those who actually have dealt with an actual board complaint ? I give my time freely to try to help you in what I have learned. It is the worst time of your life, to be accused , and there is no nursing organization that is on the nurses side. and no unions at least not in arizona.- anyone have a board complaint
what I have found in AZ , is that when you have a board complaint , the board will call every place you work or have slipped up in telling them where you are planning on working , they will call them and tell them and dramatize the complaint. In one case a NP was applying to work at a big hospital firm, and told the BON, the atty contacted that place and told them " she has a board complaint , and no not at your place of employment , well at least not yet , " most places will say lets wait and see what happens , and then you are out of work a long time, cannot pay an atty and the BON uses taxpayers money to go after you . they will not stop at anyone who does not cow down and signs their nonsense. ! It happens a lot. On the other hand many nurses have worked with 'common sennse" board that are human, in their approach, and realize that there is nothing to it. and drop that matter like it should be dropped !- anyone have a board complaint
just read another nurse had a board complaint , anonymous, this should never be , criminals have more rights than nurses. You have a right to face your accuser. How can you defend yourself. ? It really stinks when a nurse gets caught up in this !- anyone have a board complaint
”””Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are. ~ Ben Franklin”””- anyone have a board complaint
First of all I am not "triggered" . Don't use psych terms on me, this is very typical of the corrupt az board of nursing. You responded to a post and you DO NOT HAVE an experience. You are undermining , a legitimate concern , and should be a concern to all nurses working in AZ, nursing students , CNA's etc. Not sure why you even responded . Except to stick up for something you have no idea about.- anyone have a board complaint
That is their mandate, but that is not what is happening, and if anyone thinks so, prove it. They are protecting others similarly situated. I am not here to argue either, but feel the need to educate others . I always wonder why people come on and make a post look like there is nothing to it 'because I have been a nurse in az 20 yrs and do not know of a board complaint " . It 's obviously not about YOU. (yet) . So anyone who hasn't had a BON complaint should post that ? This is not topic here , Start a thread, those of us who haven't had a board complaint . There are 70k rns and 100k NP, RN, Midwives etc. a stigma is on someone who has a board complaint, and most people do not say anything to others. Also the board threatens anyone to talk about their complaint or what the board told them . every threat by the board , they rely on "unprofessional conduct " BS! . Mgr's , nursing profs, azna officers, members of the board have had board complaints and you will never hear about that either . BTW license protection is available, older you get , bigger target !- anyone have a board complaint
Many board complaints , on nurses like yourself , after 20 years you think that is to your advantage ? A bd member will tell you , "it just means you haven't learned anything in 20 years ". And most cases have nothing to do with nursing . Before you stick up for a corrupt board , educate yourself not be reading what the BON puts out there but the other side of the story they do not put in their 'judges opinions' . (the bd writes what the alj signs ) and pick short statements out of context. ) A MSN nurse lost her license for educating a patient , Dr was upset . BON protects hospitals.- anyone have a board complaint
Many long term nurses have no idea a board complaint is on a co worker . One of my bff traveling , got turned in. She ended up with DOC. Never told me . Like yourself , I knew of no one . Some nurses , even in AZ walk away with a fair deal, but again you have to look at circumstances. (did they dismiss due to protecting the hospital ? or LOC (which no one see's ! ) to protect a hospital ? ) I know of way too many after studying this area , met them in various ways , connected . And believe me most cases , they do not and did not deserve any of it. Some were on staff 1 hospital 30 years , when weeded out for being top wage earner. You can read a lot of cases by the web page, and yes I never believed anyone could be unduly charged with a case , and lose their license over nothing , it happens . It is complicated. - anyone have a board complaint
