1st off a huge congratulations ! You have improved yourself for your patients' benefit! Your confidence has grown which makes you a stronger nurse !
I was reluctant to take my CCRN, fear of failure maybe. I was a criticare RN almost 10 years before I took it and when I did I blew it out of the water. Great scores (except the 5 questions in the psyche section).
Congrats again
Shame the OP never returned. Maybe he washed out.
I worked all kinds of Critical Care for 30 years (2nd career) and retired July 2020 after a pretty horrific bout with the original COVID. I hunted and fished all through my career and worked with plenty of others that did the same, mostly but but a few females too. Always had a go-fast bass boat and traveled to destinations to fish. Hunting is a familial thing but I really enjoy the taste of game. I'm in Texas though. I feel sorry for the folks that wanted to try the outdoors and never did. Just know that without fishers and hunters the outdoors would be less fertile (Look up : The Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937 ). Hunters a responsible solely for the re-emergences of deer and wild turkey populations along with other species. Get out there and just do it with common sense!
Same. Been retired almost 5 years after 30 years in neuro critical care/ICU/Trauma CC. I miss the patients, families, and the challenges. Administration , especially upper administration sucked tho.
Good advice on the hand squeeze. The theory is to illicit purposeful/higher brain function responses. I always ask for a "thumbs up". Yeah when I was a new neuro RN I did the hand squeeze thingy too. Neuro is exciting but as mentioned above there are more down times than up. Usually your patients are going to be less functional when they leave your unit. That just goes with the turf. Make this your Neuro Bible ... it is an awesome text: Author: https://nursing.uth.edu/directory/profile/index.htm?profileinode=438498 This book is awesome stuff! Good luck ! Bob
