Considering getting certified to teach Health Science Technology
I have a second interview this week for health science instructor for a high school CTE program! I'm a bit nervous. Schools are scary these days. I'm also nervous about being a nurse in a school full of educators I'm currently a full time case manager and get paid really well. I know the pay going into teaching is going to be low along with a lot of work. But the time I'll have with my own kids., getting home earlier, holidays and summers might be worth it. Who here actually is teaching HS health science? How is it?! Is it worth taking a leap of faith and doing it?!

Your Uniform....
I started wearing scrubs today! I have on black scrub pants and a scrub top that almost could pass as a shirt along with a black sweater...no one has said anything yet! I will slowly start wearing the more casual scrubs ;-)

Your Uniform....
So do I ask if I can wear them or just come in with them on and see if anyone says anything?! lol

Should I give up scrubs?
I just posted about this...I am new to my district and the other nurses wear casual clothes. I am in the special ed. population and there is a lot of spit, drool, etc., I feel it would be more appropriate to wear scrubs. I don't know how to go about making the change...maybe just come to work in scrubs one day?? The teachers here usually wear jeans and tshirts as they are dealing with getting their clothes pulled at or students try to bite, spit...and more!

Your Uniform....
Just curious how many of you wear scrubs vs casual clothes to your school. The other nurses in my district wear casual clothes at their schools. I am a new nurse to the district and I feel like wearing scrubs would be a little more appropriate as I deal with the special ed population and a lot spitting, drooling, etc., Thanks

Last min job...Am I crazy?
In my state the health department does all the hearing and vision., we just arrange the date and time and notify parents if there is a concern

Last min job...Am I crazy?
Took a last minute school nurse job! I've subbed for the previous nurse in the past...I Wasn't sure if I was going to get it or not but Yay I did! It's only part time and not the greatest of pay and no benefits but it's what I really want to do and we don't have many school nurses in our state so I feel lucky. Some of my family thinks I'm crazy to take a pay cut from the hospital and no benefits, but my husband Carries benefits for us and I'm excited to be doing what I love! Any advice for a new year and diving in to the chaos?!ahh!

Getting approval for FT nurse
I work at a school part time...I would really like to be full time at the school and the principal would also like a FT nurse. However., she sad she's asked about but has been turned down. There always seems to be illness or injuries that occur after I leave and the secretary has to attend to these issues. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to work a plan/proposal to get approval for the position to be full time?!
