  1. I cringe every time I hear my profs say there is no stupid questions. I just wait because I know the next question coming will prove them wrong. in anatomy class while studying neurons the prof said that the brain burned a lot of energy. Next thing you know she is calling on a kid who asks, " does that mean if a person thinks really hard they can loose weight?" unfortunately this turned into a discussion that took up about 15 minutes of class.
  2. I use Notability, I carry a stylus from the dollar store which works great and I also have a keyboard. But I find that most of the profs have no issues with recording the lectures, so I do that and take notes and it turns out pretty well.
  3. Thank you for the link janfrn. I'm currently going into my third year but am looking to see what the job pool is like at the moment. I had planned to go north after finishing school for at least one year and potentially up to 3. I would be going with my soon to be husband, who is a med lab tech, and was wondering if anyone would know the likely hood of him finding a job up there as well.
  4. Did you hear back from UofO? I'm in the collaborative program at the woodroffe campus. The school also will only accept you into one of the programs at a time, in your order of presence. If you had the collab program listed as your first choice than that is what you would be accepted to an you would not get accepted into the main campus unless you turned down your spot in the collab. The administration at UofO is terrible, but once you're in you don't really deal too much with them.
  5. Congrats on starting nursing school. Where will you be attending? I'm heading into my third year. It's been an unexpected ride so far, but my clinical placements only started last year so it's getting better. I agree with Fiona59, expect all different kinds of people as your classmates. And agree with both Fiona59 and CaffeinePOstat do NOT procrastinate. Review your notes more often to save yourself from having to cram. Get sleep the night before your tests and exams, it is more important than the all nighter. you will be more likely to actually remember what you have learnt. Find a buddy in your classes that you can get notes from in case you get sick and can't make it to class. The biggest one for me was to realize how important your grades in all your courses are and that they will affect your final placement. In the UofO program you can go out of province for consolidation if you have an CGPA of 8.0 if I remember correctly. Keep your grades up to the best of your abilities.
