Darton College
Hi TheGodInMe-RN I made above the 60% that Darton requires for the RN program. I have applied for the traditional track and I will know in November if I have been accepted or not. I would highly recommend studying the ATI book for this test. Good luck!

Darton College
Hi stephanie622, Sorry it took me so long to answer, it has been super busy around here. Now, I have heard that the Summer is a hard time to begin the nursing program at Darton. They said it puts the Adult Psychiatry class the following summer and that is a very hard class to cram into a 10 week semester. Now, as for the TEAS test, there are some changes coming. Right now at Darton, the TEAS test is given by Darton staff. However, starting next semester ATI will be giving us the exam. We were told the price would increase from $45 to $87 but, nothing else would change. I wish I took some ear plugs with me to the testing center b/c I sat next to a student that made A LOT of noise! She upset many students that day and nothing was ever said to her by the staff. I would highly recommend the ear plugs. The test certainly was not easy. I felt like some of the practice tests I found on the Quizlet website to be very similar to what I was tested over. However, the McGraw-Hill TEAS book was a lot easier than the actual test & I would not rely solely on it. I will certainly keep you posted if I get in or not :)

Darton College
Hi! I am at Darton & have applied for the spring 2015 nursing semester. I just completed TEAS. I will know in November if I have been accepted. Let me know if I can answer anything for you.

Darton College 2014
At Darton the minimum score to be considered for the program is 60%. However, every school is different. The National Average for the ATI TEAS is 64%. After you take the test it gives a complete breakdown of your weakest and strongest areas. The science part was the only area I was below average, but it was only by 1%. My strongest area was the Math! I couldn't believe it! I scored 80% and that is well above the national average.

Welp... failed THAT test....
Sorry to hear that you failed a test; however, I am happy with how you are handling it. I had a very similar thing happy to me my junior year of Radiology school. The test was unlike any other test we had from this teacher and majority of the class failed. We did question the teacher about the outline and even some of the information in the test did not seem to coincide with the chapter it covered. It took him about 2 weeks to give us an explanation. He said he did not know why we did so poorly and decided to 'grade on the curve' for that test. So, it changed my 'F' to a 'B'. I can't say that you should expect your teacher to do this, but I say it wouldn't hurt to ask for some insight from your teacher on how to make sure this doesn't ever happen again.

Nursing Program at Georgia Southwestern University vs Darton State College
One more thing TimothyB, I am not familiar with the Hybrid track for the RN program at Darton. Are you currently in the program? And if so, what is the Hybrid part...are you online for classes and only in town for clinicals?

Nursing Program at Georgia Southwestern University vs Darton State College
Timothy thank you so much for your information! Let me tell you what all has happened for me since I made this post. I have started a new job as a Radiology Tech at a local hospital. I work a 24 hour shift one day out of the week and PRN the rest of the days. The radiology dept is right next to the ER, which I love. I am getting tremendous support from the doctors & RNs there on getting my degree. I spend more time working in the ER now than anything else. This morning I took my TEAS exam at Darton and passed! Now, I just have to be patient and wait for Darton to let me know if I have been accepted for Spring 2015. I will find out after November 10. Finally, one of the RNs I work with said her mother teaches nursing at GSW. She said the rumor going around is that by 2017 Darton and GSW nursing programs will be merging. I have not applied to GSW as of yet, however if I do not get in for the Spring I may still apply at GSW. Thank you again for your insight and I will be keeping in touch!

Darton College 2014
I just took my TEAS this morning and I passed!!!!! Now, I am just waiting to hear from Darton in November on if I am accepted into the Spring 2015 semester or not. Anyone on here still needing to take the TEAS exam should make sure they know a good lil bit about DNA & RNA. The science part of my test seemed to be mostly about that.

Darton College 2014
Hi cgriff08, I also take my TEAS this coming Friday. I still do not know what the exact clinical schedule entitles. However, I have heard that in 2016 Georgia Southwestern University in Americus may be merging with Darton's RN program. That will be nice because it will make a broader range of clinical sites for students that do not live in Albany. Good luck on TEAS! I have been studying my rear-end off these past two weeks getting ready for it :)

Finishing Pre-Reqs at Darton State College or Middle Georgia State College or online?
Hi there, I guess I am in the same dilemma you are in. I am enrolled at Darton for Fall 2014 to finish taking cores for the RN program. I have applied for the Spring 2015 RN program at Darton. Though, I also have decided to do the BSN instead of ADN. In December I will have all the cores required for ADN; however, I will still need some cores for the BSN. I am trying to decide if I want to go to GA Southwestern or Darton for my BSN. I understood Darton does have a BSN program and its all online. GSW does have a better pass rate w/ the NCLEX-RN than Darton. As for your cores, I am choosing to do as many as I can online. This will be my first time @ Darton, so I do hope their online classes are as easy as the last college I attended. Here is a link to the GA Board of NCLEX pass rates: http://sos.ga.gov/PLB/acrobat/Forms/38%20Reference%20-%20Nursing%20Education%20Program%20Results%20%28NCLEX%29.pdf

Nursing Program at Georgia Southwestern University vs Darton State College
Hello everyone, I am having a hard time trying to decide which school to go to for Nursing for the 2015 school year. I would love to have some feedback on two schools in my area. I am trying to decide between Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA and Darton State College in Albany, GA. Below is a breakdown of my education and location. I currently hold an associates degree in Radiology Technology I currently have a 3.7 GPA I am scheduled to take TEAS in October 2014 I live 25 miles from Americus, GA I live 33 miles from Albany, GA I recently earned my associates in Radiology; however, in my last year of school I was exposed to the emergency room. This is where I fell in love! I have never felt more like I belong somewhere, than in the emergency room with a degree in nursing. This is why I am back in school for a nursing degree. I have plans, if I can afford it, to get my BSN. Like everyone else, I do have bills to pay. Darton offers a 2 year RN program and then you can get your BSN online. I do not see where GSW offers a 2 year degree, it seems to only be a BSN. Darton's 2 year program is roughly 18 months. I am not sure how long the program at GSW is but, it looks like I would have to do the basic generic track. I am currently enrolled at Darton for my final core classes and will have them completed by December 2014. I have also applied for the Spring 2015 nursing program at Darton. I will not know if I have been accepted or not until November of 2014. I haven't applied to GSW yet, but would love to know if anything thinks I should go ahead and apply. I do not know how it will look to apply to 2 different colleges for very competitive programs. So, any feedback from current and/or former students of these two schools is greatly appreciated!!

Darton College 2014
I have applied for the 2015 Spring Nursing program at the Darton Albany campus. I will not be notified of whether or not I am accepted until November 2014. I will be taking TEAS sometime in October. I just graduated from ATC with a degree in Radiology Technology. I fell in love with the emergency room and nursing; so, that is why I am back in school for a RN degree. I just had a interview for a rad tech job at a local hospital. The shift I have been offered is on Sunday 7am until Monday 7am. Yes, its a 24 hour shift, but this is a very, very, very slow hospital and it's only 1 day a week. I have my fingers crossed that this work schedule will work with the RN program. I do not know anything about clinical and class times/days throughout this program. So, any advice offered will be greatly appreciated!
