I am about to finish my second semester in the program. My opinion thus far: Patho - difficult and time consuming (I don't recommend taking this one in the summer as I did) Roles - straightforward class, good to pair with a difficult class Theory - very abstract, had to read and re-read to understand the theories and concepts presented Adv Hlth Assessment - straightforward, video assessments required for the clinical piece of the class. These are intimidating but totally doable. I've received really good feedback on areas for improvement for clinical. Pharm - LOVE! I wish I had known all of this in undergrad! I'd pair this one with difficult classes. I will be taking Adult health and research in the spring - feeling intimidated as I am learning that these are both challenging classes. I would not recommend taking patho and research together, especially in the summer. Patho with Roles was a good pairing for me. I took these 2 in the summer and it was difficult with all 3 of my kiddos home on summer break, but I passed - so it can be done. :)

I would apply now for RODP. They will assign a home school to you and you have to meet that school's deadlines for admission. But sometimes it takes a little time to get the home school assigned, so to meet the fall deadline, I would start ASAP. The good news is that it looks like the classes are offered year round so you won't miss any sequencing of courses even if you had to start in the spring. I'm about to take my first 2 classes starting June 1st, so I'm no expert, but I have gone through the process. Hope this helps...AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BSN!!!

For those of you that have already taken classes, how was advanced role development?

I have been accepted to RODPs FNP program with home campus assigned at TSU. I would prefer MTSU since its only 20 minutes from home rather than an hour to Nashville. Anyone currently enrolled get assigned to MTSU as home campus? Just curious as to how they decide home school assignments. My MIL works at MTSU, my hubby went there, my SIL went there, my mother went there, and so on and so forth. I would just like to have my actual diploma say MTSU for legacy purposes. Don't get me wrong, I'm SUPER stoked that I was accepted to TSU and will be able to share experiences with 2 of my nursing buddies, I just don't understand the process for school assignment.

I feel your pain! I am living with anesthesia school debt after finishing 2 semesters as well. In the 3rd semester I had a reality check with my autistic son and had to quit. He needed me then and will continue to need me long after he's legally an adult. I start my FNP program in June and couldn't be more ecstatic. It's a better fit for our lifestyle and his needs. I know it's a decision that weighs heavily on the heart because you have already put so much time and effort into the CRNA program, but you have to go with your gut. It not a decision that is ever taken lightly, so I seriously doubt you'll regret it. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors since you've probably graduated by now. If so, how have you liked the transition?

I have been accepted to RODP's FNP school. :) It is online curriculum through the Board of Regents in Tennessee. A collaboration of many Universities and Colleges throughout TN make this possible. They have various MSN degrees not just FNP. You may want to check that out at rodp.org

Cannot believe I didn't see this post sooner! I applied to critical care and am on pins and needles awaiting the board results!! Is there a site that we can check to find out sooner? *excited*

LOL! Oh I absolutely agree! But if I have to fill out a dream sheet, I want to be more educated through the experiences of others.

I am a 10+ year experienced RN applying to the Air Force. I've chosen critical care as my identifier since the majority of my work history is there (and I LOVE it!). I know that the bases available for this specialty is already very limited, but I wanted some input from those with the knowledge...what is the best air force base with critical care for those with a family? I'm not really concerned about the technology, patient volume, or any of that because I've worked in all types of environments and can function with just about anything. I just want to know where the quality of living is the best for my family. I was a military brat but became one in my early teenage years so the extent of my knowledge about bases as a dependent is limited to Pope, Kadena, & Spangdahlem. I'm excited to hear your input!
