Requirements for Entrance into the Bachelor of Science Program in Nursing for Registered Nurses (Licensed in New York State) I sat in on one of their information sessions once and from what I understood as long as you have your RN license you can pretty much register and are accepted into the program. I believe that the competitive tracks of these CUNY nursing programs are in the generic bsn and accelerated programs.

Yes. We had an orientation last Thursday where we received reading assignments and assignments due on the first day about the nursing logic. We were also informed of a quiz we will be getting on the first day as well. I'm nervous. I've also started reading chapters on the nursing process from my fundamentals book just to get familiar and ahead of the game. Off topic, I received my scrubs in the mails today! It was so exciting trying them on. It made my day. Lol.

Yes, being able to secure a job quickly after graduation is important to me right now. My initial reason for getting the certification over two months ago was to try and land a job during the summer then maybe work weekend once school started, but the fact that it wasn't possible was the reason I was wondering if I should even still use my certification at this point. I don't have anything to lose, I just don't want to be regretting after if I feel I didn't really gain too much from it. Thank you for your advice and good luck to you!

My apologies in advance for this long post. So I received my CNA certification recently and was working with the school where I received my certification to get an internship. The initial internship was with a hospital that is 15 mins from me and I felt was perfect because I would get to have contacts/network with a hospital. I thought this was good since I start my first semester of nursing school next month it would in some way, shape, or form help in the long run with my nursing career. (I can't help but already think about employment for when I'm done with school.) However, today after almost 4 weeks of waiting for my background check to clear and get the ball rolling, I was informed that the hospital has no space or supervision for interns at the moment. Now I'm being offered another opportunity to intern at a LTC facility 45mins to an hour away, where I did my clinicals at. I was trying to avoid this place because I didn't really like a lot of what I saw going on there while at clinicals. I preferred the hospital also because I believed that experience would expose me to a lot more learning. Am I wrong with this assumption? So this internship is unpaid and six weeks long. I start school in seven weeks. My question is how helpful will this experience be to either my nursing school experience or resume. Should I do it or should I just enjoy my summer and last seven weeks of freedom before the nursing school nightmare??

Hello class of 2017!! Congrats to all!! I'm doing my ASN and bridging to BSN shortly after. I start in August and although I'm beyond excited, I don't want this vacation to be over too fast. I'm so scared of what lies ahead for the next two years. I pray I will have what it takes to make it through. I also can't wait to hear what our first weeks are like! Good luck everyone!

OMGGGG.. my daughter just did that mess of a comment and I have no idea how to delete it. But I don't start nursing school until this August and this is one of my worst fears. I'm also in a program where if you fail one class (failing is anything below 77) you may repeat but that's your one and only repeat. It's very discouraging. This is our lives so to speak. Have your scores always been around this same average? How many classes are you taking? You have made it this far though, you got this.

Thank you guys. As many have suggested, I will be renting specialty books and buying those books that I will be needing throughout the program. I appreciate everyone's advice. I just couldn't believe the number of books we would need for one semester. This will crazy I can already imagine but I can't wait.

So... I'm starting my first semester of nursing classes this August (whippie!!!) and I'm super excited. However, I've got a list of "required" text that I'm not sure about and wanted to ask students their opinion based on the titles of the texts, whether its a book that should be bought or rented. I would love to buy them all to add to my bookshelf, however I don't have $700 to shell out for books right now. This doesn't even include ATI study books, drug reference books, and RNotes I would like to purchase as well. I will be taking Nursing Care Across the Life Span I and Gerontological Nursing for this first semester. I believe the books are mostly for this first semester only, or do y'all think I will be using them to reference back to in further semesters? I'm currently a student at BCC. You are allowed to repeat that micro grade, lowest grades accepted are C+. Like others have stated CUNY schools are more competitive but I believe you have a chance at BCC. I was at Lehman before coming to BCC. Good luck.

Omgggg! Third semester! I'm so happy for u! That's awesome. If only I could get to the first semester. Lol. It sucks that so many people can't get through the pharm exams and it's all because they are so picky with all the work one has to show. When I took this class at bmcc it was nothing like this and I got a b+, then here I'm basically failing!! Do the progression exams get harder each level up? And yessssss, I need to learn my stuff, apparently I suck! Hehe! But again congrats on making it through! I've heard from so many people how challenging it is!

I'm thinking about taking it this spring with the chair at 7am (yikes) and since I will only be taking that one class (since I have all bios already) I'm going to do a cna certification. I've been so bummed about having to repeat such a "silly" class (got all A's in my other four classes) because I hate having to waste time doing nothing. But how is everything with you? I'm failing pharm! I need a 90 on the final or else I'll be waiting till fall. I don't understand. I study and I feel I know all the material well. I wasn't even allowed to look at my last test to see what I messed up on. The way that class is set up especially with him is just horrible!

So I spoke today to one of the creators of the dual program and she said as long as you have a 'b' average after taking NUR 100 and NUR 101 than you just apply. You mentioned you were in your second semester right? Btw I'm in third round, so if I ever do get in I should be hearing something by the beginning of January. I say if because I was so confident of pharm and I got a 68 on this last exam!
