UW Oshkosh Accelerated Program Fall 2015
Hello! Glad I found this post! I am really interested in applying to the summer or fall cohort. I am taking pre-reqs now; 3 left for the fall but they wont be done by September 15th so I think that means I am stuck applying for October 2015. I dont have any CNA experience but it would give me time to get some! What about you? Other than CNA experience, anything your worried about?

UW-Oshkosh Accelerated BSN - May 2015 Cohort
I am really interested in applying for this program. I have to call tomorrow because I only have 3/6 science pre-reqs and all the rest completed. I was planning to take A&P2, Microbiology and Chem2 in the fall. Am I crazy? Probably! haha. I have a bachelors and masters degree and have been working in a hospital for a couple years. I am taking the TEAS at the end of the month and I dont have my CNA license yet. I am EXTREMELY nervous about my chances to get in without CNA experience. I am going to call tomorrow to see if I would be eligible to apply for May 2015 or if I have to wait until October 2015 because of my classes.

University of Miami Accelerated Nursing
If you spend some time on their website you can see the list of equal credit classes. There is a lot of information on their website and the other week I clicked around a found the information. It may have been under the ABSN FAQ section. Good luck! You can also give them a call and ask.

Florida ABSNs
@LegacyJS Remmington College in Lake Mary near Orlando offers the ABSN program (I think we are thinking of the same school!). I called them to get information since I am worried about my gpa as well. The seem to be very flexible with overall gpa and value the pre-req gpa much more. 2.8 was their minimum when I talked to them a couple weeks ago and they were very friendly and understanding. Definitly worth checking out!

horrible school
Ignore this person. I have seen similar usernames (assume its the same person again and again) that just talk negative about the school they attended being "terrible." Its immature and they have nothing better to do with their time.

Jobs in Jacksonville,FL for nurses without experience?
St Catherine Laboure Manor is owned by St Vincents so if you applied there you would be in their "network" making it easier to transition to the hospital side.

UNF Summer 2015 BSN Applicants
Yup, im a social worker! Happy to meet another. I went to UCF for my BSW and then NYU for my MSW (I was lucky enough to get an academic scholarship). When I worked at St Vincents Riverside I worked with quiet a few people that graduated from FSU because they also have a campus in jax that offers the MSW. Agreed about getting pre-reqs over! I have been working professionally the last couple years so getting back into the groove of school this summer was interesting but now i'm excited to see what happens. I had to take 2 classes in the summer and have 2 in the fall. I just signed up for the TEAS August 25th and got my study book... but I need to open it lol. I was reading old posts too and its so overwhelming to think how they determine who they accept. They only accept 27 for the ABSN and that is so intimidating!!!

USF BSN & ABSN Hopefuls Summer 2015
Agreed. I am very nervous about USF because they are extrememly competative and my first choice! You should feel confident though, your GPA is higher than mine. I think right now have a 3.64 overall (not including the 2 summer classes I just finished) and I would estimate a 3.5 pre-req (I still have 2 to go for the fall; unfortunatly I got a C the first time I took A&P 8 years ago and just re-did it without a problem but they look at first attempts so my pre-req GPA will be low). I actually like that they value the essay so much because I feel that is my only leg up over the competition because I work in the medical field, very involved in the community and have an advanced degree. I started a rough draft but its so hard to include everything you want to say and it still flow nicely. I want to bring mine to the writing center in the future because I hear they will offer advice on the essay. From previous USF BSN students I have been told to just be honest and speak from the heart; they will see your passion in your writing.

USF BSN & ABSN Hopefuls Summer 2015
Yup, as a pre-nursing student you can take patho in the spring semester (with a special voucher). I think they offer it in the fall but when I try to look up the registration information it says it is restricted to the accepted nursing students only. I plan to take patho Spring 2015 so I will see you there! I am looking into other schools but not 100% sure where I want to apply. UCF is my alma mater for my 1st bachelors but they require the TEAS. Not to mention I just got married 6 months ago and we just bought a house in Tampa so it would be inconvenient to go somewhere outside of Tampa. I might apply to FSU, as their requirements are similar to USF but its so far away! I know what you mean by putting all your eggs in one basket! Some of the private schools, like South University or UT are so expensive in comparison too!

Applying To Nursing School - Discouraged
So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and I hope your brother is doing well. I know its hard to hear but the advisor might be giving solid advice but just had poor delivery. As others have recommended, you may just have to get to your goals another way such as a CNA or LPN degree and then bridge to RN and then BSN. Anything is possible with some determination! There are also private schools that accept students with lower than ideal GPAs. For example, I recently spoke with a representative at Remmington College near Orlando (they have an accelerated second degree program, which is what I am interested in) and I believe their minimum gpa requirement was 2.75 and they take into consideration family stressors or reasons for lower grades (especially in pre-reqs). Maybe look into one of the private schools (Keiser comes to mind as well). Best of luck to you!

I know I am jumping on this topic early but is anyone else excited about the upcoming ability to apply to USF? Lets get to know each other! Share a little about yourself. We can also talk about the application process, writing sample, gpa, facts/things you have heard, concerns/thoughts, other schools your applying, ect. Lets get a conversation going! Go bulls!!

UNF Summer 2015 BSN Applicants
Hi, glad to know i'm not the only one already starting to plan for the 2015 applications! I am considering UNF on my list of schools to apply. I am originally from Jax (grew up there) and live in Tampa right now but I am keeping my options open. I have a bachelors and masters degree. I would be applying for the ABSN program! I just ordered by TEAS book and I am going to start studying after my A&P final tomorrow lol Planning to take the test in August before fall semester (last pre-reqs, yay!) starts up. Have you taken the TEAS yet? How do you feel about the in-person interview?
