  1. Hello All. I’m struggling if whether I can sit for this cert or not. I’ve worked in ambulatory care for 6 years now. Started in primary care but moved to patient education and health Promotion. A lot of my job is focused on improving HEDIS metrics and coordinating pt education. Where I struggle is the 2000 clinical hours. ‘Clinical’ is subjective and I even emailed AANC for a better definition and they replied with the criteria to sit for the exam. My job requires an RN license and everything I do touches clinical practice. I do not have consistent face to face interaction, I am behind the scenes so to speak but get pulled for pt care as needed. Any help is appreciated. I’m probably overthinking this but I want to make sure I’m eligible. Thx
  2. @sleepwalker I was today years old when I learned there was a correct format.
  3. Hi All, I recently completed my MSN in nursing education. I've seen different credentials after people's names and wanted to ask what is correct. Is this degree notated as MSN only ir MSN-ED? thanks
  4. Lindsay, I’ve been doing more research into the hour issue and found some programs will give credit for certifications and projects. I’m currently looking at university of Colorado.
  5. Use the resume builder in usajobs.
  6. My MSN only required 120 clinical immersion hours. Most DNP programs I look at require 1000 total hours to complete. Most assume the MSN student completed 500 hours, so I run into the situation where I am deficient. My concern is that I might need to do more immersion hours to successfully complete a program. I’m completing a specialization in education and looking at finishing my DNP in leadership.
  7. Has anyone started a DNP program with less than 500 clinical hours? If so, what program?
  8. Has anyone completing Or currently completing the OSU DNP executive track program? I have questions about the immersion hours. Thx
  9. Nurse 1, step 1, looks like 51k.
  10. Jeck are you staying federal or leaving all together?
  11. Does anyone currently work in this position? What is a typical day? I'm currently looking at local positions and I'm extremely interested in learning more. Thanks.
  12. I'm a vet as well, that's what makes it difficult. Most of me wants to stick it out in hopes I can make a change but a past of me wonders if that's possible.
  13. Have anyone left the VA and been happy with their decision? I'm sick and tired of caring for people in such s broken system. Would love to hear success stories.
  14. Wow peds oncology. God bless you. I could not do it. I would cry everyday. I I think im burnt out. Patients drain me and so do the providers.
  15. I've been a nurse going on 4 yrs now and I have not found a job I truly like. I've tried psych, med surg and ambulatory nursing. There's not much you can do with a BSN besides be a nurse. Do you still like being a nurse? If so, what specialty or area?

Does anyone work for Aetna as a cm? I have been very interested in applying to Aetna but I don't know much about the company. I currently hold a care coordination position within as a federal nurse but I am not too happy with the current position. I am curious if someone could fill me in on Aetna as a company, benefits? supportive environment? job satisfaction? Thanks in advance!
  17. I'm new to primary care and I'm looking for tips that make a good primary care nurse. A lot of what I do is care coordination but it seems like that's pretty common in PC. TIA!
  18. Does the VA offer tuition reimbursement as a benefit? I can't find anything online.
  19. Thanks everyone! I Think it's the work environment that's getting me down. There are no consequences for bad or lazy behavior at my current job. Seriously no call no show is a slap on the wrist. I just want to be paid for my quality of work. Occ health nurse sounds pretty cool. I did I quick search but there doesn't seem to be much need. I will keep searching!
  20. Bump anyone
  21. Are there any specialities that don't require teamwork? I ask this jokingly, kind of. I'm just sick of working my butt off, getting paid crap as the seasoned nurse gets paid more and doesn't help out. I work in an environment that requires teamwork and I feel like I'm always being let down. I work so hard to help people out when I get a chance but rarely see any help returned. Are there any specialties that are a little more independent? Thank!!
  22. So only one answer on online vs residential? Can you guys create another thread to talk about that specific program?
  23. North east area. What would nurse 1 step 3 pay?
  24. I know this is an old thread but didn't want to start another since this already exists. What can a BSN nurse with 2.5yrs exp expect to start at? The range for my area was 51-97k. I have no idea where I would fall and can't find any charts to figure out pay ranking. Thanks!
