  1. If everyone just says no to the lower pay scale, they'll get the hint. Panic they will but get the hint. Be brave, it's liberating. Just negotiated hourly at 125$ - I just said it, and they took it.
  2. Hey Jelly look at the degree that John Stumpf got - you know the CEO FROM Wells Fargo who makes 19 mil a year. A C average fringe student he was who happened to get an mba from a non name school. Your comment is ridiculous and demeaning to your professional peers. If the school meets accreditation standards, she's in. And the salary too.
  3. Hello does anyone out there realize that we NPs get reimburse by Medicare and other insurance companies at 85% of what the MD bills with the same CPT code. Therefore at a minimum we should all check the average salary of the MD or DO of our specialty and get 85% of that. Do the math. It's way over the 90-100k mark. If we all don't band together, we'll be stuck at the 50-60$ per hour wage. I say stand up and demand it.

  5. Stay away from the DC NP arrangement as enticing as it appears.
  6. Read the Art of the Deal by Donald Trump. It's an easy read, can upload it on iBooks and it gives you a sense of what negotiation is all about. It's about knowing your market, knowing your self worth, knowing your value. If your an NP you are the oxygen
  7. You should a thread I just wrote on another dq mid you can't find it PM me
  8. I can't discuss the specifics but I'm starting out and I contracted as an IC, not an employee for more than 70 an hour plus a flat fee of over 500 a month for being a medical director, I only negotiated that low fee per month because I'm going to direct 4 other clinics (so I'll get an additional 2000 a month). Normally it would have been at least 1000 a month for just one clinic. I have a lot of experience in contract negotiation in the private sector, but I really think it comes down to how you project yourself whether your in an autonomous practice state or not. But think about it, if an NP's reimbursement is 80-85% of an MD's (with insurance), then our wages ought to be 80-85% of an MD's hourly wage. Once employers and staffing companies get use to us increasing the fee, they'll accept it. That's how it's done. But if you keep accepting that 50$ an hour wage, nothing will change.
  9. Awesome! All NPs need to coalesce and demand higher wages. 100-125$/hour is more than reasonable. Anyone who works for less than 70$ /hour needs to do the math and realize your employer (especially in the private setting) is making a ton of money off of you.
  10. Okay, so now we have chiropractors veiling themselves by creating new professional corporations that do not identify themselves as chiropractors but as medical business owners. They call their clinics integrative medical practices and hire (or try to hire) a NP to bill all services and perform everything but manipulations. So if I read this clearly, we NPs are their oxygen to survive financially yet the pay is roughly 50$ an hour. What a joke. Any NP who even considers this position needs to get at least 100$ an hour plus a medical director fee of at least 1000$ (especially if you work in an unrestrictive state). Better yet, NPs should set up their own practices and perform the same or better service and keep the profits. Just really frustrated seeing these nps work for peanuts and being taken advantage of. Pass the word around.
