Hello Everyone, I am trying to join the Navy, and I am a new nurse with no current experience. They informed me I need at least 144 hours in certain specialties. These include: Medsurg, Critical care, NICU, ICU, ED, Peri operative. I just got an interview for a progressive care unit. So my question is can the PCU be considered critical care or medsurg since its kind of in the middle? Working in the PCU would I get the same experience as medsurg? thanks for the help

Hello everyone, I have an assignment due this week for my BSN program to interview a nurse that went from RN to BSN. I am currently not working in the field of nursing and was wondering if someone on the forum will help me out with a virtual interview. Thank you for anyone who can help. Just got a reply form the health science admissions and she said "We expect to send the campus assignments before the of May 2015." Clearly there is some kind of speech barrier. I guess that means before May?

They can't wait for June that is the date for spring applications, if a student doesn't get the assignment they need they can apply again. I sent an email to the health science admissions and this is what she sent me: Congratulations and thank you for your email. The campus assignments will be sent close to April. Please be advised that we will try to accommodate the students in their top choices. The campus will be assigned following the prerequisite GPA of the students accepted from the highest to the lowest.

Can people post when they get their letters with class assignments. I am checking everyday, getting really nervous because I am in the military and the only option I can take is nights/weekends. I hope my grades are good enough to get it, otherwise I will have to reapply in June and try to get nights and weekends again.

If you are applying in June that will be for the spring 2016 start date. The deadline for the fall 2015 term was Jan 15.

Can someone who has went through the program tell me how much the uniforms cost, and are there certain requirements on how many we have to buy?

Can anyone who was accepted into HCC nursing program, tell me when you find out what class you are assigned to? My first and only choice was night/weekend, the acceptance letter came today and does not tell my if I was able to get into nights/weekends. Should I assume since it doesn't say otherwise that I got my first choice.

Hello, looking to get a reply from someone who has been in the Hillsborough community college nursing program. I received my acceptance letter today for fall 2015, however it does not say what class I got ie. Mornings, afternoon, night/ weekend. Does anyone know when they tell you which one you got into, or since they didn't say otherwise should I assume I got my first choice? lindsay

Hello everyone I hope someone can shed some light on my situation. I am active duty Air Force, so I have taken classes at many different schools. Currently I am in Tampa Fl and planning on applying to Hillsborough Community College nursing program. I am currently enrolled in Micro and A+P 2 in the fall. When I took my A+P 1 class 5 yrs ago, it was the first ever A+P class at the campus and needless to say it was awful. The instructor was an ER doc with no teaching experience and would go over 300+ slides a night. It was 8wks of hell the human cadaver lab was a joke, and with only a midterm and a final (no reviews) I got a C. It scared me and I stopped perusing nursing, now that I am in FL and they have a night and weekend program available I decided to give it another try. In the first day of micro I got my confidence back seeing the way a real class is conducted. I realized it was the class not my lack of knowledge that killed me in A+P 1. My problems is the way they calculate your GPA is by only counting prerequisites needed for the nursing program (I know this is probably the normal way). I have all my general ed classes completed with straight A's, my only C is in A+P. The minimum GPA to get accepted in 2012 was 3.5. If I do not get an A in micro and A+P 2 I will not have a 3.5. I figured I could take A+P 1 again in the future if I did not get those A's, but found out from what I was reading today I cannot. Does anyone have any info on this, or been in this situation? Is there anyway around this? It just does not seem fair! Classes needed for nursing program w/grades: English / A Sociology / A A+P 1 / C A+P 2 Microbiology Algebra / A Thanks for any help!

Currently I am in a ADN program and looking to go to WGU shortly after graduation for the RN to BSN program. I am active duty Air Force stationed in FL working in an ophthalmology clinic, and hope to stay this way until I get my BSN. One of the application requirements is "Applicants must be working in a position that requires use of nursing knowledge and expertise at the time of application and enrollment" do you think my job would satisfy this requirement (Currently I assist the surgeon in surgeries)? Also what is the reasoning for this, do you need mentors at work to sign off on tasks or something? The other question I have is am I able to complete this program from the comfort of my home? For example it says proctored exams are those done by web cam or at a facility?
